What are the responsibilities and job description for the Theatre Teacher&Artist in Residence for grades 5-12 at TAPA: Trinity Academy for the Performing Arts position at Trinity Academy for the Performing Arts?
Theatre Teacher and Artist in Residence at TAPA: Trinity Academy for the Performing Arts | Providence, RI
TAPA: Trinity Academy for the Performing Arts, an academically rigorous public charter school for the arts, seeks a Theatre Teacher to join our thriving program of Theatre instruction for students in grades 5–12.
At TAPA, the ideal candidate will inspire and empower students through the art of Theatre, while also centering and celebrating their cultural histories. Our curricular focus emphasizes the exploration and celebration of diverse cultural traditions and histories, with a particular focus on the histories and experiences of Latinae/Hispanic and Black communities. Additionally, the ideal candidate recognizes and celebrates the interconnections between Theatre and academics through a culturally responsive pedagogical framework.
TAPA’s anti-oppression creative community is enriched by the cultural, religious, racial, ethnic, and linguistic diversity of our neurodiverse families, students, and employees. Demographically, nearly all members of the TAPA student body are people of color, predominantly Latinx, with many students speaking both English and Spanish in their homes. Many of TAPA’s students identify as members of the LGBTQ community. It is an organizational priority for TAPA to hire educators and other staff members who have cultural commonalities with our students and families.
At TAPA, the arts are deeply embedded into the core of interdisciplinary learning. TAPA prepares students to successfully meet or exceed Rhode Island’s graduation requirements and perform at (or above) grade level on all state and local assessments. TAPA meets each student’s individual academic needs using assessment data and continuous feedback while providing clear academic, social, and artistic expectations.
At its core, TAPA is a student-centered, caring community that fosters leadership, intellect, self-confidence, and responsibility. Inclusion, equity, social justice, and diversity frameworks are core components of every course. Racial and ethnic minorities and individuals with disabilities, as well as candidates from diverse backgrounds and with diverse experiences—particularly related to social justice education and/or initiatives—are strongly encouraged to apply.
NOTE: Schoolspring is notoriously user unfriendly. If you would prefer, you can send your application (cover letter, resume, and references) to Ms.R-H@TAPAprovidence.org
