What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Bus Driver position at Trinity Church International?
Trinity Christian Academy is currently searching for a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and experienced bus driver to join our family. Duties include driving for the school in accordance with the laws and regulations of the state and the policies & procedures of the school. Transport students to and from school and other sites within designated route(s) and to ensure the safety of the student passengers while in a school vehicle.
JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drives a school transportation vehicle within a prescribed route(s) in accordance with time schedules, picking up and discharging students at designated stops.
- Transports students and teachers on field trips to various locations; planning necessary route(s) and stops as needed.
- Conduct safety and operational inspection of assigned vehicle.
- Reports needed mechanical repairs when necessary.
- Services buses with fuel, (gasoline or diesel fuel, DEF and oil; checks and when necessary, fills tires and batteries.
- Performs periodical safety drills as required by law, completing necessary reports upon request.
- Maintains cleanliness of vehicle to ensure safe operating condition.
- Attends various meetings regarding safety, first aid and training updates as required.
- Operates a two-way radio.
- Ensure adherence to good safety procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Academy.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Ability to drive a school bus safely and efficiently,
- Ability to exercise good judgment and extreme caution while driving,
- Ability to read and write at a level necessary to successfully perform the required duties,
- Ability to maintain valid certification as school bus driver according to state regulations,
- Ability to meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform required duties,
- Knowledge of basic first aid practices, procedures, and techniques,
- Knowledge of safe driving practices,
- Flexibility/adaptability to change related to work,
- Demonstrates professionalism at all times.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Must be 21 years of age,
- Must have a clean driving record,
- Must pass a background check,
- Must pass a DOT drug screening and physical exam,
- Valid CDL Class A or B with passenger and school bus endorsements,
- High school diploma or equivalent required,
- Minimum of six months previous school bus driving experience or vocational training preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Travel within or outside of employment.
- Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.

- The individual is subject to both indoors/outdoors environmental conditions.
- This role must endure extended periods of sitting, which requires attention to detail and high levels of attention.
