POSITION SUMMARY
The Program Officer, in consultation with the Program Director and Managing Director, supports the selection and convening functions of the Trinity Leadership Fellows program, which is key to Trinity Church’s commitment to leadership development for faith leaders (more below). The officer also supports convenings for other initiatives in the Philanthropies unit at Trinity Church; and plays a key role in grantmaking for the Leadership Development initiative.
Trinity has made a commitment to Leadership Development as a pressing priority and uses grants, convenings; a fellows program; and its work with the Church Divinity School of the Pacific (CDSP) to advance and expand new and innovative forms of faith-inspired leadership development around the world.
The annual salary range for this position is $114,100 to $141,200.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Trinity Leadership Fellows
- Reviews Trinity Leadership Fellows applications and assists in coordination of selection process, including managing interviews, and announcements of each selected class. At current scale this entails more than 2,000 applications and 50 interviews each year.
- Plans and coordinates with the team and provides logistical support to Trinity Leadership Fellows convenings/meetings. This currently entails three annual convenings related to the fellows program: opening and closing of the program for first and year fellows and their mentors, totaling approximately 100 participants; and one annual alumni convening of approximately 30-40 participants. Convening
In addition to the Trinity Leadership Fellows convenings described above, the Program Officer will also plan and host two annual Leadership Development Initiative grantee gatherings on Zoom. Outside those time frames, the Program Officer will work with other philanthropies teams to design and manage convenings that advance the strategies of their initiatives. TLF and Philanthropies convening tasks include but are not limited to:
- Collaborating with teams to clarify purpose and goals for convenings
- Building and managing invitee lists aligned with those goals
- Securing appropriate space at Trinity Commons, Trinity Retreat Center, or elsewhere,
- Securing A/V, IT, catering, and other support services as needed.
- On-site real time event management
- Post-event assessment and other duties as needed.
Grants Management
- Serve as primary point of contact with the Grants Management team
- Reviews all assigned letters of inquiry and proposals.
- Where needed, conducts additional research into the relevant fields and organizations.
- Consults with applicants to ensure that proposals meet Trinity's guidelines.
- Drafts proposal analysis, including written summaries and recommendations.
- Manages on-going relationships with grantees, from initial contact and receipt of grant proposal to grant close.
- Manages grants database, ensuring that accurate data are entered and updated as necessary.
- Monitors and tracks grants to ensure compliance with all financial, legal and other Trinity requirements.
- Develops reports to aggregate evaluation results and communicate Trinity's impact.
- Keeps abreast of emerging issues both locally and nationally.
- As needed, assists with grant proposal review and grants management functions of other philanthropies teams.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ACTIVITIES

- Ability to analyze proposals rigorously including financial skills to evaluate program budgets.

REQUIRED AND PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CREDENTIALS
- A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience preferred.
- 3 -5 years of experience in non-profits with philanthropy experience preferred.
- Experience with grants database programs preferred.
- Experience in events management.
- Experience with organizing meetings/conferences, including complicated travel arrangements and high-level speakers.
- Knowledge of leadership development/education programs preferred.
- Knowledge of faith institutions and/or theological education preferred.
