Annual Giving plays an important role in the life of the College by supporting Trinity’s current priorities, providing flexibility for the College to meet immediate needs throughout the year, and taking advantage of new opportunities as they arise. Reporting to the Director of Annual Giving, the Assistant / Associate Director of Annual Giving establishes and implements strategic plans to accomplish fundraising goals for the Trinity College Fund from a range of alumni classes, including both reunion and non-reunion classes. The Assistant / Associate Director will oversee interactions with volunteers and alumni to achieve desired dollar and participation goals and enhance volunteer and alumni engagement. The ideal candidate for this position will have exceptional interpersonal and writing and editing skills along with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently and as part of a dynamic and collaborative team.

Duties and Responsibilities

Class and Volunteer Management

  • SUMMARY : Under the direction of the Director of Annual Giving and working with fellow Class Managers, develop and execute strategies and metrics to accomplish fundraising goals for the Trinity College Fund and enhance volunteer and alumni engagement from a range of alumni classes including reunion classes. Responsible for setting and achieving class-level donor and fundraising goals, analyzing class giving, and creating gift pyramids.
  • PROSPECT MANAGEMENT : Manage a personal portfolio of 125 annual fund prospects and volunteers within your class cohort with a goal of 50 substantive contacts including personal visits and phone calls per fiscal year with emphasis on alumni volunteers and leadership-level potential donors to secure annual gifts.
  • COLLABORATION : Collaborate with Gift Officers to maximize class giving by encouraging aspirational annual fund gift conversations, regularly reviewing and discussing top prospects, and facilitating volunteer assistance when needed.
  • REUNION : Organize Reunion Gift campaign for assigned Reunion Classes. Manage Reunion Classes, in partnership with gift officers, Alumni Relations, and other staff members. Host regular Reunion committee meetings throughout the year, as well as subcommittee meetings as needed. Coordinate enhanced Reunion fundraising efforts, including managing sophisticate Reunion fundraising volunteers and peer to peer outreach.
  • VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT AND MANAGEMENT : Oversee the recruitment and onboarding of new fundraising volunteers within your assigned cohort of classes. Provide one on one instruction and ongoing communication about college news and progress towards class goals. Work with volunteers on planning and executing successful fundraising campaigns. Also responsible for transitioning fundraising volunteers who are going into or coming out of a Reunion year. Devise strategies to fully staff each assigned class with quality volunteers. Find opportunities for affinity segmentation to increase effective outreach within a given class.
  • COMMUNICATION : With fellow Class Managers, conduct two to four virtual meetings per fiscal year with volunteers to provide campus updates and encourage open dialogue and communication. Provide regular communication to fundraising volunteers regarding peer to peer assignments and classmate pledge / gift activity. Facilitate solicitation letters and electronic communications from class agents. Administer volunteer online portal (GiveCampus Volunteer Management System [VMS]). Utilize email (Encompass), text (GetThru), and social media.
  • STEWARDSHIP : Steward volunteers and assigned / unassigned donors in managed classes by sending thank you notes to donors and acknowledging volunteer efforts throughout fiscal year.
  • DATABASE : Responsible for technical support including database record keeping; producing merge lists and letters; generating a regular schedule of internal and external volunteer related reports.

General

  • Work alongside the Advancement team in managing and executing a wide range of activities and solicitations for the annual Giving Day campaign and other major College events such as Homecoming, Family Weekend, Commencement, and Reunion Weekend.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and based on departmental needs.
  • Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required; as well as three or more years of successful leadership-level fundraising or comparable experience, preferably in education.
  • Planned giving experience is preferred.
  • Experience with direct solicitation and volunteer management strongly preferred.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills required.
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to inspire colleagues and motivate volunteers.
  • Strong attention to detail, well-organized, excellent at managing deadlines, and a proactive problem solver.
  • Articulate and persuasive communicator, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong sense of personal and professional integrity and work ethic.; must be able to maintain confidentiality and be tactful and discreet in working with donors and volunteers.
  • Strong computer fluency including Microsoft Office Suite, donor database software, and query tools.
  • Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Travel is a required component of the position.
