Position Summary
Assumes responsibility for annual giving retention and acquisition programs at the University of Hartford in an effort to increase the annual giving program in terms of total dollars, percentage participation, and consistency of giving and average gift size for the University as a whole and for each of the seven schools and colleges utilizing advanced segmentation, volunteer engagement and data analytics techniques. This position will oversee our peer-to-peer fundraising program including but not limited to developing onboarding and training volunteers, stewarding volunteers and managing the volunteer fundraising platform. The Associate Director will also assist the Senior Director of Annual Giving in executing and planning our annual giving program. Performs all duties in full support of the University's mission, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of the University's students.
Hiring Range
Budgeted starting salary is $50,445 to $70,000, depending upon experience
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for working with the Senior Director of Annual Giving and other Development and Alumni Affairs staff to plan the Annual Fund calendar, set goals, generate content including copywriting and execute strategies for multifaceted and coordinated matrix of annual giving communications and solicitation strategies involving email, direct mail, phone, personal visitation, volunteer engagement, and social media. Analyses and uses data to plan for and realize annual giving goals including a peer-to-peer solicitation program and leadership giving society.
Supports the Senior Director of Annual Giving with building a peer-to-peer fundraising program with a focus on affinity groups, athletics, young alumni, milestone class year reunion giving, leadership giving societies and other parent and various alumni groups. Works within peer-to-peer fundraising platform to segment prospects for volunteers, monitor and evaluate results and build a training, onboarding and stewardship plan for the volunteer community. Focuses on Day of Giving and other key points in the calendar year to deploy volunteers.
Works to support Day of Giving efforts to grow participation and revenue at the direction of the Senior Director of Annual Giving. Day of Giving activities includes, but is not limited to student engagement and on campus activities, coordinating with affinity groups such as Student Government Association (SGA), Hillel, Black Student Union (BSU), Athletics and other alumni and parent community groups on campus.
Manages a portfolio of donors and potential donors both for solicitation and for engagement in volunteer activities. Travel as needed for in-person meetings with key volunteers and external audiences as well as on campus meeting with partners and affinity groups. Directly solicits alumni, students, parents and community members throughout the year for annual giving support. Engages assigned portfolio of prospects in campus events and other volunteer opportunities.
Works in conjunction with the Senior Director of Donor Relations for the stewardship of volunteers and donors. Stewards the identification, recruitment and involvement of volunteers in the development process.
Works in conjunction with the Senior Director of Annual Giving to assist in the management of student worker program and our Philanthropy Ambassadors program.
Collaborates in the development of publications and advocacy materials that support key funding priorities and advance the public image of the University of Hartford ensuring alignment with University branding initiatives, departmental goals and University values.
Attends University events and functions, including but not limited to Hawktober, Commencement, Family Giving and Day of Giving events, representing Development and Alumni Affairs as necessary and/or appropriate.
Performs other duties as assigned.
