There is an immediate opportunity for an EHS Specialist (Safety Specialist) to work onsite at an ultra cool Research and Manufacturing campus in the Greater Washington DC area. This position is salaried, as Trinity is the hiring company, and you will support an ongoing multi-year client project on a contract basis, while having the opportunity to develop your EHS career with a world-class organization. This is a full-time, development level contract safety specialist position located at a biopharmaceutical research and development facility in Gaithersburg, MD. Position falls within the Research & Animal Safety group.
Job Duties:
- Serve as secondary IBC administrator with Tik@Lab web-based platform, helping to train new participants, organize IBC meetings, etc.
- Assist with safety meetings, documentation, reviews as well as site Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) communications on various platforms (WorkPlace, plasma screens, Teams, etc)
- Manage non-prescription safety glasses program
- Serve as team lead for SHE System (Enablon), ensuring timely document closure, providing assistance/back-up for CapEx requests, etc.
- Conduct alternating cryogen safety walk-throughs with LabOps
- Assist with lab walk-throughs and data entry, as needed by SHE partners
- Compile data for SHE performance metrics and benchmarking
- Analyze historical incident data, leading indicators, risk assessments and in-field observations and provide recommendations based upon analysis
- Participate as requested, in departmental self-audits and program reviews
- Update Sharepoint/Nucleus pages
- Champion a culture of safety within the R&D groups based on HOP principles
- Other duties as assigned
About You
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in scientific or EHS related field
- 1-2 years experience in lab/animal/biological/chemical safety, bench research, or biopharma R&D/manufacturing preferred
- Prior experience with risk assessment and accident investigations a plus
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Strong computer/technology skills desired – knowledge of SharePoint and Enablon desirable
