Ophthalmic Technician | Fayetteville, AR
$16-$17hr
We are looking for a detail-oriented and compassionate **Ophthalmic Technician** to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist the ophthalmologist in providing exceptional care to patients by conducting pre-exam screenings, diagnostic testing, and assisting with procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preliminary eye exams, including measuring visual acuity, checking eye pressure, and conducting refractions.
- Collect patient medical history and document accurately in charts.
- Administer diagnostic tests such as OCT, visual fields, and fundus photography.
- Assist the ophthalmologist during exams and minor procedures.
- Maintain and calibrate ophthalmic instruments and equipment.
- Educate patients on eye care, medications, and post-treatment instructions.
- Ensure patient flow runs smoothly and efficiently throughout the day.
Job Details:
- Job Type: Full-time
- Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- No weekends or holidays
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or Assistant preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with EHR systems and diagnostic equipment.
- Certification (COA, COT) is a plus but not required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

* Assist ophthalmologists by performing ophthalmic clinical functions. May administer eye exams, administer eye medications, and instruct the patient in care and use of corrective lenses.
* Take and document patients' medical histories.
* Conduct tonometry or tonography tests to measure intraocular pressure.
* Operate ophthalmic equipment, such as autorefractors, phoropters, tomographs, or retinoscopes.
* Take anatomical or functional ocular measurements of the eye or surrounding tissue, such as axial length measurements.
* Measure visual acuity, including near, distance, pinhole, or dynamic visual acuity, using appropriate tests.
* Measure and record lens power, using lensometers.
* Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications.
* Conduct visual field tests to measure field of vision.
* Assist physicians in performing ophthalmic procedures, including surgery.
* Measure corneal curvature with keratometers or ophthalmometers to aid in the diagnosis of conditions, such as astigmatism.
* Conduct ocular motility tests to measure function of eye muscles.
* Clean or sterilize ophthalmic or surgical instruments.
* Maintain ophthalmic instruments or equipment.
* Instruct patients in the care and use of contact lenses.
* Assess refractive conditions of eyes, using retinoscopes.
* Call patients to inquire about their post-operative status or recovery.
* Assist patients to insert or remove contact lenses.
* Conduct binocular disparity tests to assess depth perception.
* Adjust or make minor repairs to spectacles or eyeglasses.
* Assist patients to select eyewear.
Salary : $16 - $17
