Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-3 years previous scheduling experience.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and nursing practice is preferred
- Previous experience working in long-term care or with the geriatric population preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, coordinate, and maintain staff schedules for nursing and caregiving personnel.
- Ensure proper staffing levels are met to comply with state regulations and facility policies.
- Adjust schedules as needed to accommodate call-offs, vacations, and staff shortages.
- Communicate with employees regarding shift assignments, schedule changes, and coverage needs.
- Maintain accurate records of schedules, attendance, and time-off requests.
- Collaborate with the nursing department and administration to optimize staffing efficiency.
- Utilize scheduling software and maintain electronic and paper records.
- Assist with payroll processing by ensuring accurate timekeeping.
- Support recruitment efforts by identifying coverage gaps and working with HR on hiring needs.
- Address scheduling concerns and conflicts professionally and effectively.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in healthcare scheduling (1-3 years), preferably in a long-term care or nursing home setting.
- Proficiency in scheduling software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations and make quick staffing adjustments.
- Knowledge of Indiana state regulations regarding staffing requirements in long-term care facilities is a plus.
