Job Summary
The Manager- Nursing, Behavioral Health is responsible for the development and administrative supervision of a multidisciplinary mental health team and for assisting with organizing, planning, leading and directing clinical and management activities for the designated nursing unit. The Manager- Nursing, Behavioral Health contributes to organizational operations and is accountable for daily supervision of patient/nursing care delivery. The Manager- Nursing, Behavioral Health participates as a member of the health care team in maintaining, continuity and quality of patient care.
Essential Key Job Responsibilities

Manages all aspects of the day to day operations of the Behavioral Health Department, including inpatient nursing, therapists, case managers, as well as social workers. Coordinates with the charge nurse to assign patient beds.
- Provides patient care in the appropriate clinical setting to manage resources effectively, improve clinical outcomes, provide discharge plans and promote behavioral health wellness in the community.
- Develop and optimize processes that improve patient flow, staffing, patient length of stay, documentation and billing.
- Supervise and evaluate the daily activities, workload assignments, work schedules, and monitor attendance of the Integrated Behavioral Health Specialists and Nurse Practitioners on the Integrated Behavioral Health team.
- Manages performance including: setting goals, clarifying job expectations, monitoring performance progress, providing feedback, recognizing performance, developing skills and addressing performance issues related to work and our Commitments using corrective action.
- Organizes and keeps track and reduces LOS for both CPOU and Medical Observation patients.
- Organizes and keeps track of charges that will be correctly captured through proper documentation.
- Develop staff schedules and make adjustments as needed to assure comprehensive patient care.
- Lead staff huddles and informs staff of pertinent information.
- Participates in departmental continuous quality improvement projects.
- Participates in development and implementation of policies and procedures
- Maintains compliance with governing and accrediting bodies and participating in surveys.
- Work collaboratively with all departments to achieve and maintain high patient and physician satisfaction.
- Participates in the establishment and annual assurances of competencies for all patient care staff and monitors on an ongoing basis.
