Software Integration Engineer
Location:  Boston, MA / Hanscom AFB

Salary: $130,000 - $140,000 PLUS a $1,000 sign-on bonus

We are seeking a Software Integration Engineer to become an integral part of the Trinity IT team. You will be responsible for application software or programs integration to a containerized platform. This position requires a Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance.

Role:

As a Software Integration Engineer, you must be able to quickly learn and apply new technologies. Your responsibilities will revolve around the full life cycle of software application development. You will play an integral part in a multi-organizational group of software engineers operating as one team to support the software development team. You will be the conduit between software developers and platform engineers, identifying solutions offered by the platform that can meet developers' unique needs. This position requires a candidate who has excellent documentation habits, communication skills, and has a minimum of 3 years of experience in software development. This is a hybrid position, which requires in-person work in the Boston, MA area.

Key responsibilities:

• Understand modern software development methodologies and tooling (continuous integration, version control, modern build systems, vulnerability management and dependency management).
• Design and implement approaches to automation, deployment and change management for third party systems/applications (treat operations as a development effort).
• Write robust automation for provisioning, configuration, deployment, operation of third-party systems/applications.
• Solve complex implementation problems associated with environment parity across multiple environment types.

Software Integration Engineer Job Duties:

Clearance:

Eligible for or currently possess active DoD Secret clearance, which requires US citizenship.

Skills and Qualifications:

• BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related STEM discipline (or equivalent work experience)

• 3 years of experience software development using Continuous Integration (CI) / Continuous Deployment (CD) methods. 

• Experience working with complex DoD Command and Control and/or Intelligence systems, databases and architectures.

• Hands-on experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and AWS Cloud Infrastructure.
• Direct experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting applications running on Kubernetes (AWS EKS, Rancher, AKS, GKE).
• CompTIA Security certification (or other certification meeting DoD Directive 8570).
• Ability to act as a conduit between software developers and platform engineers, identifying solutions offered by the platform that can meet developers' unique needs.

• Experience with object-oriented design and programming, with heavy focus on Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).

• Experience with full-stack development using Java, JavaScript, related technologies and REST APIs

• Knowledge of software containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm). 
• Designed and built scalable containerized applications (Docker/Kubernetes, AWS ECS Mesos, EKS, Rancher, AKS, GKE)

• Linux Shell scripting

• Consistent use and knowledge of common version control systems, such as Git

• Excellent documentation habits

• Experience supporting enterprise production platforms, e.g. AWS EKS, RKE2, AKS, GKE experience designing, deploying, maintaining, troubleshooting cloud resources, e.g. AWS VPC resources, EC2’s, DNS.

• Ability to provide technical support to project team members to ensure compliance with software engineering standards.

• Experience with popular CI/CD and Gitops tools such as Gitlab, Nexus, Vault and ArgoCD.

• Experience with ensuring a system meets rigorous CI/CD Information Assurance requirements.

• Able to work in a team with a diverse experience base, mentoring junior developers on software development processes and providing recommendations to project management.

• Knowledge of secure coding practices and static code scanning tools such as Fortify or SonarQube.

• Able to identify pain points within development processes and pipelines, and to recommend and develop solutions to those.

Desired Skills:

• Read, write, and deploy Helm charts;  Configure, provision and update resources in Terraform;  Vault, DNS, Networking, Storage, Server Management and Monitoring.

• Java and XML technologies, security APIs

• TDD, XP agile software methodologies and lean practices

• Experience hardening Kubernetes clusters and containerized applications; Deploying and managing resources to multiple Kubernetes clusters at scale

• Demonstrates capability in the analysis of requirements and the developing software solutions for web interfaces and graphic user interfaces, databases, scripting, and application software.

• Involvement with relational databases and noSQL databases (Postgres, MongoDB, MySQL)

• Effective unit testing

• Experience with relational database architecture, design, and implementation

• Knowledge of modern software development best practices and techniques

• Experience articulating and developing system and sub-system architecture, requirements, and design documents.

• Experience with Fortify, Sonarqube software scanning tools.

• AWS Cloud certification

• Linux Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
