Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Music Director to lead our Christian music program. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a commitment to excellence in coordinating the music for both the contemporary services, the traditional/liturgical services, including the liturgical settings in our hymnal . As the Music Director, you will be responsible for overseeing all musical activities, fostering a positive environment, and ensuring the highest standards of musical excellence.
Responsibilities
Music Selection and Planning:
- Choose appropriate Christian music for both the contemporary and traditional/liturgical worship services.
- Collaborate with the Senior/Lead Pastor to plan and develop the worship music for both services.
Leadership:
- Recruit, train and lead volunteer musicians, including vocalists, instrumentalists, sound techs and video operators for both worship services.
- Plan, arrange and lead rehearsals of the Praise Band and the choirs of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Worship Service Coordination:
- Work with the Senior/Lead Pastor and Church Administrator to ensure a seamless integration of music in both worship services.
- Coordinate with the sound technicians and video operators to ensure that both worship services are excellent.
Music Ministry Development:
- The director will seek opportunities to enhance the music ministry for the contemporary service with the addition of new worship songs.
- Develop addition worship teams for the contemporary worship service.
- Develop and train an additional contemporary band leader.
- Develop and direct the adult choir.
- Develop and direct a children’s choir.
- Develop and train an additional organist.
- Work in the Elementary School to develop a music ministry for the students.
- Research and establish, if viable, a “Trinity School of Music”.
Administration:
- Manage the music ministry budget and resources effectively.
- Report music ministry updates to the Senior/Lead Pastor and the Board of Elders.
- Communicate activities with the Church Administrator for the purpose of scheduling.
- Maintain and communicate regular office hours.
- Maintain and organize the music library.
Qualifications
- A strong commitment to the Christian faith.
- Demonstrated proficiency in leading contemporary praise and worship music.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with volunteers.
- Proficiency in playing the keyboard & organ. Ability to play the guitar would be a plus.
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
- Flexibility to work on weekends and evenings as required.
- Previous experience as a Music Director is an advantage.
Schedule
- The Music Director will work on campus, Sunday ½ day and 4½ weekdays/evenings. The Music Directors’ actual schedule will be determined on a separate document and is subject to change.
- Additional time may be required based on added responsibilities and events.
