Job Description:
Provides strategic direction, leadership, and support for initiatives related to the Circle community's engagement both inside and outside of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. These initiatives enhance the Trinity undergraduate, graduate, and professional student experience. Responsible for partnering with and supporting all stakeholders to execute Circle programs, events and activities. Manage archives of scholars’ homework and writings. Work will be conducted on campus and off campus.

  • Administrative and functional supervision is exercised over professional staff and undergraduate students. Additionally, supports faculty, staff and core community to deliver curriculum and programs to the Circles.
  • Supports a comprehensive strategy to enhance diversity, equity and inclusion through thoughtful mentorship, community building and co-curricular learning, for the undergraduate, graduate and professional student communities. Designs and implements programs and initiatives that foster expression and support for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated scholars. Expresses understanding of the values of the institutional commitment to DEI.
  • Develops, manages and assesses innovative programs, events and activities to support Trinity’s Strategic Priorities. Develops concurrent workshops, masterclasses, boot camps and programming to connect Circle Alumni in pursuit of supporting one another. As needed, serves as the principal source on policies and procedures to participants as well as on information to students, staff, faculty, and manages student workers and summer fellows.
  • Acts as a representative for Trinity’ Circle at the Torres Unit, nurturing and building a network of supporters across campus, in the Circle community and at national and international conferences. Manages existing and builds new relationships, connects to resources across campus, across disciplines and in the region. Acts as spokesperson for the Trinity Philosophy Literature and Circle when the Trinity Co-PI is unavailable.
  • Collaborates and supports the CO-PI faculty on developing curriculum for the Circles and programming. Advises and educates students on opportunities.
  • Assists the Trinity CO-PI in managing the grant budget and collecting data and preparing annual grant reports. Ensures ongoing and accurate collection of data and metrics.
  • Supports the CO-PIs in efforts to attain recognition and awards as well as in fundraising and/or grant opportunities.

  • Cooperates and collaborates with other employees in the spirit of teamwork and collegiality and interacts with confidence, patience and integrity to provide professional leadership during emergencies.
  • Complies with all Trinity University policies and guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as required.
EDUCATION
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in business or related field.
Preferred:
  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in business or related field.
EXPERIENCE
Required:
  • Three years of experience in working with the Philosophy and Literature Circle.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion and the ability to work as part of a diverse workplace
  • Experience in program development and high-end program management.
  • Experience in overseeing community or academically-based program/s.
  • Experience successfully supporting partnerships and collaborations with minimal oversight.
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines with varying degrees of pressure, including experience developing curricula s and other programming.
  • Experience recruiting speakers and experts to participate in various programs.
Preferred:
  • Evidence of successfully collaborating with students and faculty.
  • Knowledge of and experience in the technology used to communicate with the Department of Corrections.
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations.
  • Working knowledge of Trinity policies & procedures.
  • Experience with event planning ranging from 10-50 attendees.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Required:

  • Proficiency with personal computers and the use of database software. Proficient in software tools for communication, analysis and office operations. Strong working knowledge of a variety of computer applications, including email, calendars, zoom, Microsoft Word, CRM tools, Excel, PowerPoint, Mailchimp or similar tools.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with an ability to interact fluidly with the many different individuals and organizations that will contact and work with the Circle.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to react and adapt to changing situations appropriately.
  • Demonstrated ability to represent the Circle well in working collegially with peers and colleagues within and outside the University.
  • Strong independent judgment and capacity to take initiative in a “multi-tasking” environment with minimal supervision. Ability to adapt to changing work environments.
  • Very strong detail orientation.
  • Understands and is capable of absolute discretion with confidential information and materials.
  • Ability, and required documentation, for travel.
Preferred:
  • Desire to work in an environment of growth and change.
  • Positive, energetic, “can-do,” proactive entrepreneurial attitude with a passion for innovation and creativity. Willing to jump in and contribute wherever needed.
  • Extremely well organized with excellent time management skills.
