Description
The purpose of this position is to support workforce students in achieving their educational and career goals by providing personalized advisement, developing effective career pathways, and connecting them with relevant resources and opportunities. This role involves collaborating with faculty and staff, administering career assessment tools, and enhancing curriculum to foster student success and retention within the workforce education program.
Reports to : Associate Vice President, Workforce Education
Job Duties
- Advise on course selection, program modifications, and policies related to attendance, academic loads, conduct, and scholastic standards.
- Develop processes to connect students with prospective employers and transfer institutions.
- Administer Career Coach assessments and interpret results.
- Design career advisement models to help students identify goals early in their education, promoting success and retention.
- Collaborate with student orientation programs.
- Organize, implement, and evaluate workforce curriculum improvements.
- Train advisors on effective career advisement methods (Career Coach and GradCast).
- Coordinate career assessment questionnaires to determine student interests.
- Prepare students for job searches, including resume building and interview skills, and connect them with relevant resources.
- Maintain comprehensive records for all students.
- Liaise with placement services (GradCast) to track workforce graduate placements and report rates.
- Understand the needs of "non-traditional" and "special population" students, linking them to appropriate support services.
- Collaborate with the TVCC Workforce Education division and staff to develop support services and meet program requirements.
- Attend workshops and conventions as assigned.
- Serve on selected committees.
- Complete other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIRED : Bachelor's degree
PREFERRED : Master's degree
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :
Two (2) years' experience with teaching, educational leadership and / or student advising and instructional design.
