The History Department at Trinity Valley School
The history department at Trinity Valley School seeks applicants who bring passion for teaching history; eagerness to build meaningful, caring relationships with adolescents; and enthusiasm for professional collaboration, learning and growth.
The department is a team of creative instructional designers who utilize a range of pedagogical techniques designed to further develop students as intelligent citizens who think critically and analytically through the study of past and present.
The department welcomes candidates who are capable and comfortable teaching history courses across the Upper School curriculum. TVS graduation requirements invite students to choose history electives; therefore, candidates should be enthusiastic about designing semester-long elective courses that would complement the department's robust set of offerings.
Trinity Valley School appreciates that teaching excellence comes in many forms. Above all, the school seeks candidates who love working with young people and place students at the heart of their instructional practice. TVS welcomes candidates who are both comfortable serving as advisors to groups of 10-12 Upper School students and willing to engage in campus life through coaching, volunteering with Trojan Outdoor Experience (TOE), leading students on Trojans Abroad Programs, and / or sponsoring co-curricular clubs and programs.
Knowledge, Experience, and Skill Requirements
The ideal candidate :
- Holds a master's degree in history or related field (master's preferred; not required).
- Has teaching experience in history, ideally in independent schools.
- Has the flexibility to teach across the . Experience teaching electives within a range of social science disciplines, especially Government or Economics, is a plus. We also welcome applicants who have experience teaching topics in non-Western history.
