Trinity Industries is seeking a detail-oriented and innovative Summer Intern to enhance key components of our Welding Management System. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to apply specialized knowledge and skills in real-world scenarios, focusing on data mapping, data modeling and transformation, and creating a central document repository.
Project Objectives :
Data Mapping
Conduct system analysis to assess the current state and define the desired future state.
Data Modeling and Transformation
Convert manual forms into digital forms that integrate seamlessly with platforms such as DevonWay QMS and CD2 LMS.
Develop user-friendly interfaces for data entry and reporting.
Create a centralized welders database populated by digital forms.
Central Document Repository
Create a central repository with open architecture that can interface with other system platforms such as DevonWay QMS and CD2 LMS.
Specific assignments will be tailored to align with the skills of the selected candidate.
Key Learnings
Gain firsthand experience in applying specialized knowledge and skills to real-world scenarios.
Understand project management tools and their application in the rail and heavy fabrication industries.
Explore welding engineering principles, regulatory compliance, and the influence of IT solutions on these aspects.
Qualifications
Education : Enrolled in a Master of Science Program and completed a four-year degree program that includes a Bachelor of Science in Data Science, Data Analytics, or Computer Science.
Skills : Advanced interpersonal skills, creativity with purpose, and the ability to think and work analytically when the task requires.
Technical Proficiency : Experience with data mapping, modeling, and digital transformation tools is preferred.
Preferred skills and experience include :
Proficiency in analyzing existing data structures and processes.
The ability to map current data flows to new systems.
Knowledge of workflows development.
Proficiency in database design, SQL, and creating relational databases.
Expertise in data transformation pipelines using tools like Talend, Apache NiFi, or Python libraries (Pandas, PySpark).
Basic knowledge of designing user-friendly forms and dashboards using tools like PowerApps, Tableau, or custom front-end frameworks
Ability to design, test, and deploy robust systems
Knowledge of connecting repositories to external platforms using APIs, middleware, or ESBs (Enterprise Service Buses)
