Summary
The Jr Site Reliability Engineer is an entry-level technical role focused on both operations and infrastructure engineering. The role supports 24x7 delivery of Hosted and SaaS applications to global Fortune 500 clients at cloud scale. It requires 2-5 years of progressive career experience supporting cloud applications throughout the full Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
The Jr Site Reliability Engineer supports customer requirements and anticipate future business and product needs.
What You'll Do
- Aid in architecting toolsets and methodologies to ensure consistency across non-production and production environments, fully automate/execute deployments, and mature cloud capabilities.
- Monitor system health, performance, reliability, and implement proactive measures to prevent downtime
- Manage, and fully support 24x7 production environments with cloud-scale Hosted and SaaS applications.
- Provide on-call support to cross-functional follow-the-sun teams supporting production.
- Maintain subject matter expertise across infrastructure domains and product portfolio: databases, applications, systems, networking, storage, etc.
- Champion best practices and process improvements across multiple teams.
- Independently drive process and documentation initiatives.
- Anticipate and remove blocking issues before they impact deliverables.
- Responsible for creating a culture and facilitates collaboration within and across teams.
- Own complex and client-facing major incidents to resolution, engaging multiple teams and third-party vendors and providers as required.
- Manage escalations through problem management to ensure root cause analysis, prevent recurrence, and provide clear business case for prioritization decisions.
- Ensure production changes are documented, fully tested in non-production environments, and adhere to change control and audit requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- 2-5 years of experience managing systems in a 24x7 production environment.
- Hands-on system engineering skills. Ability to administer and support Windows and Linux.
- Broad network engineering and/or security expertise. Ability to support firewalls, load balancers, routers, switches, etc. (e.g., Cisco, F5, etc.).
- Experience supporting a range of web servers (IIS, Apache, Tomcat) and database technologies (SQL Server, Oracle, etc.)
- Experience with monitoring tools (Sumo Logic, Logic Monitor, etc.)
- Experience using enterprise ticketing systems and tools (Salesforce, Remedy, JIRA, TFS).
