The Compliance Manager will lead safety compliance programs spanning 2,000 vehicles and 5,000 drivers. Key Responsibilities
- Oversees compliance processes and ensures policies and procedures are in place to meet contractual compliance with Federal, state and local operational authority regulations, contract requirements, and OSHA regulations.
- Compliance processes include driver qualifications, vehicle requirements, hours of service requirements, annual training, and safety event protocols.
- Performs contractual reporting and compliance audits.
- Initiates process and control improvements to mitigate regulatory and contractual penalties.
- Ensures compliance staff functions are completed timely, accurately and in accordance with established guidelines, policies, procedures and performance standards.
- Maintains and monitors random drug testing program.
- Maintains, monitors and resolves OSHA reporting and OSHA complaints.
- Manages compliance projects as needed with milestones, deliverables, outcomes.
- Proactively highlights and recommends actions to resolve compliance issues or incomplete, missing, or expired documents before violations develop.
- Recommends innovative ways to enhance compliance programs and processes.
- Develop and enforce risk management strategies for our employee population, fleet, and regulatory environment.
- Collaborate with Operations and Key Stakeholders to avoid compliance exposures.
- Ensure strict adherence to DOT regulations, company policies, and other safety standards.
- Manage relationships with external compliance providers.
- Directly manage specialist and guide key stakeholders on compliance-related matters, ensuring adherence to regulatory and contractual obligations.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or related field preferred.
- Three years accounting, auditing, contractual compliance or similar experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience and/or training in DOT regulations preferred.
- Two years supervisory/management experience in compliance.
- Exposure or understanding of control concepts and processes with practical experience in operational risk, internal audits, risk management, regulatory and contractual compliance, and process advisory transformation / improvement.
- Demonstrated excellence in customer service and provider relations.
- Demonstrated experience in maintaining files and databases, tracking correspondence to individuals, and adhering to strict timelines.
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability; handle demanding situations diplomatically. Requires exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office productivity software, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to conduct physical vehicle and facility inspections, occasionally lifting/moving 25-50 pounds, with acute vision and hearing abilities.
- Focused sense of urgency to ensure deadlines and milestones are upheld.
