Job Summary: As the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing all aspects of our operations and procurement activities. You will play a key role in ensuring efficient inventory management, streamlining purchasing processes, and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in operations and purchasing management within the wholesale distribution industry, with a strong focus on cost-effectiveness and quality assurance.
- Inventory Management:
- Develop and implement inventory control procedures to optimize stock levels and minimize carrying costs.
- Monitor inventory levels and forecast demand to ensure adequate stock availability.
- Coordinate with warehouse staff to manage stock movements, including receiving, storage, and order fulfillment
- Purchasing and Procurement:
- Source and evaluate potential suppliers/vendors to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Negotiate favorable terms and agreements with suppliers, including pricing, delivery schedules, and payment terms.
- Place purchase orders and track order status to ensure timely delivery and fulfillment of customer orders.
- Supplier Relationship Management:
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure preferential treatment and timely resolution of issues.
- Conduct regular supplier performance evaluations and implement improvement plans as necessary.
- Monitor market trends and industry developments to identify new suppliers and sourcing opportunities
- Process Improvement:
- Identify areas for process improvement and efficiency gains within the operations and purchasing functions.
- Implement best practices and standardized procedures to streamline workflows and reduce costs.
- Continuously evaluate and optimize systems and technologies to support operational excellence.
- Team Leadership:
- Provide leadership and guidance to the operations and purchasing team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Set clear performance objectives and conduct regular performance reviews to ensure team members meet or exceed expectations.
- Develop and mentor team members to enhance their skills and capabilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Proven experience in operations and purchasing management, preferably in the wholesale distribution industry.
- Strong knowledge of inventory management principles, procurement practices, and supply chain operations.
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
