3rd Shift Laser Tech
Machine Shop in San Marcos utilizing CNC controlled lasers to cut parts for electronics industry is looking
for a Laser tech for 3rd shift
-Hours – (Monday @ Midnight) Tuesday 12:00AM – Saturday 8:30 AM.
-Must thrive in a quick paced environment
-Experience working a 3rd shift before highly advised
Note - Parts produced are typically small, fragile, generally electronics based. Most materials
machined are thin flat alumina ceramics and are profiled/laser cut to shape or have cutouts added. A
small percentage of materials are thin metals (stainless, titanium, copper, etc), plastics.
-2 axis Laser machining centers (Aerotech controllers)
Key Skills:
1) will interface with inside sales to monitor schedule, interface with engineering team
2) Excellent manual dexterity required as well as an eye for visual quality and small features
3) Knowledge and use of precision measuring instruments - calipers, microscopes, manual CMM
4) Knowledge of reading drawings and specifications with a good understanding of shop math
5) Must be able to follow and give written and oral instructions in English
6) Must be able to communicate in English (both written and oral) as it relates to the job
Responsibilities for Operator:
1. Under the direction of a supervisor and/or experienced machinist, responsible for quality parts produced
on Laser CNC machines
2. Responsible for loading parts, operating controls, setting offsets, simple edits, deburring and inspection
of quality parts for conformance to requirements
3. Study and interpret drawings, manuals, specifications or Job Travelers to determine dimensions and
tolerances of finished workpieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements
4. Detect equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjust machine, within capabilities,
controls or control media as required to ensure quality of production. Report all machine malfunctions to
immediate supervisor
5. Communicate with supervisor, engineers, production control, quality and other personnel for
assignments and to resolve process, machining, or quality issues
6. Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly
7. May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
8. Startup and Shutdown of the shop equipment
9. Full time - 40 hours, 5 days per week - May rarely include one or two weekend days per month as extra
hours depending on workload
Salary : $18 - $20
