Qualifications
Education: Associate’s degree or equivalent in work experience as determined by the Associate Vice President of Information Systems
Experience: Up to twelve months of experience in troubleshooting hardware and software problems. Basic understanding of networking concepts, with proficiency in Windows environment, including Microsoft Office, Internet Browsers, and e-mail systems, or equivalent software.
Skills: Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment, strong communication and customer service skills, highly accurate and detail oriented

Responsibilities
1. Maintains the following databases: purchase order tracking system (MS Access), vendor database, academic and administrativehardware and software, inventory of supplies, problem log for hardware and software.
2. Serves as the initial help desk contact for campus wide software and hardware (troubleshooting). Dispatches problems to Level II staff member if the problem cannot be corrected on initial call. Escalates call to Level II staff member if call cannot be solved by Level I staff member and tracks the problem to completion. Reports call backlogs to the Director of Information Technology Services.
3. Manages the daily functions of campus-wide program for computer related maintenance, daily functions of a campus-wide Help Desk, and user support for academic and administrative areas.
4. Purchases, maintains, and distributes printer and/or other misc. computer supplies to the campus community. Processes charge backs and tracks payment on those supplies.
5. Prepares newsletters, user guides, and procedures as needed to support I.T. Services and user areas.
6. Maintains current knowledge of and proficiency in various software’s including, but not limited to: MS Office Pro, Quark,Microsoft Windows, Web Browsers, Unisys, and E-mail software.
7. Responsible for the implementation of a customer service focused Help-Desk.
8. Supervises Assistant System Support Specialist/s and designated hourly staff.
9. Maintains master log for distribution of campus I.P. addresses. Adds network logins, resets network passwords, restores/clears print queues as necessary.
10. Prepares work orders and interfaces with vendors as necessary to ensure fast and efficient resolution of hardware warranty and/or maintenance problems.
11.Accepts the shipment of hardware and software for administrative and academic users. This includes signing for shipments, assigning inventory numbers, and entering/updating this information into the hardware/software database.
12. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
