Project Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities
- Providing technical leadership to project teams
- Recognizing and creatively solving complex problems
- Guiding ideation and prototype development
- Communication with customers
- Management of collaborators (consultants, subcontractors, etc.)
- Presentation of results to customers (written and oral)
- Supervision and development of junior staff
- Business development through proposal writing
Desired qualifications would include some of the following:
- Solid understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals including numerical analysis and modeling and systems experience
- Ability to lead multiple concurrent projects
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Experience with structured problem solving and product development
- Hands-on experimental and fabrication experience
- Knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication methods
- Experience conducting analysis of alternatives and technology review
- Familiarity with solid modeling, SolidWorks preferred
- Adaptability and desire to learn new technologies
Education/Experience
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field. Advanced degree is a plus.
- 5-10 years experience working in design, prototype fabrication and testing is needed
- Experience managing technical teams and directing projects is a must
- Experience with SBIR program is a plus
