Job Description

Position Summary

Provide excellent customer service and deep technical knowledge while overseeing a team of Cloud engineers and Database engineers. Ensure that all cloud infrastructure and services are planned, deployed, and maintained in a stable and strategic manner. Manage and lead the team. Execute departmental and company objectives in collaboration with other IT leaders. This role combines deep technical expertise with leadership, strategic oversight, and a focus on compliance with US regulatory standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Lead and mentor a distributed team of Cloud Engineers and Database Engineers to drive delivery excellence and ensure high-quality outcomes

Cultivate strong internal relationships and serve as an advocate and subject matter expert, sharing insights, implications and alternatives to ensure cloud infrastructure and services are configured and managed systematically for optimum security, efficiency, and cost control

Develop and maintain a clear strategy and roadmap for cloud infrastructure and services, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and lead the advancement of cloud foundations based on well-architected framework

Work closely with our Cloud Provider and technology vendor-partners who supply our technology to ensure alignment on execution strategies, timelines, and deliverables.

Establish metrics and reporting mechanisms for cloud health, performance, and costs, making recommendations for enhancements to senior leadership

Utilize Scrum or Kanban practices to manage the team's work.

Act as Product Owner working closely with other IT leaders and Strategic Project Management Office resources on IT-wide and company-wide projects so that the Cloud and Database teams' backlogs are managed, and work is prioritized appropriately.

Assist in determining the root cause of a problem, conduct research to determine best resolution, and implement appropriate solutions.

Manage Cloud and database Engineering's responses and resolutions of escalated Level III support requests. Partner with the Service Desk Manager to ensure efficient processes.

Engage with business stakeholders, including executives, functional leaders, and project managers. Understand their needs, gather requirements, and translate them into actionable cloud solutions

Determine the operations support tasks needed to maintain cloud infrastructure and services. Manage execution of these support tasks and / or work closely with others to accomplish them, including the Service Desk Manager.

Perform staff administration & leadership including hiring, monitoring, mentoring, annual reviews, adherence to policy, and timely completion of company and HR tasks such as training.

Contribute to the success of the organization's business objectives through partnership with peers and colleagues.

Be available during non-production hours to oversee systems upgrades and implementation. Be on call 24x7 in case of an emergency.

This is a leadership role, and not an individual technical contributor role. Although a deep technical understanding and historical skillset are required, actual technical tasks should make up only 5-10% of the work.

Some travel may be required to manage remote teams, attend conferences, perform implementations.

Other duties as required.

Experience & Education

Minimum of 7 years related work experience required; 7-10 years preferred.

In that time, at least 2 years spent as a leader supervising technical staff

Prefer experience either establishing a Cloud Foundation on AWS or transforming

To effectively oversee and manage the team and the projects, you must demonstrate a solid understanding of the following cloud infrastructure and services :

  • The AWS Well-Architected framework
  • The HashiCorp stack
  • Event-driven architecture principles and practices
  • Relational and non-relational databases
  • Cloud networking and security
  • ITIL practices
  • Agile mindset and approaches
  • Operations management software

Skills & Abilities Required

Ability to work in a confined area.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and telephone.

Light to moderate lifting is required.

Regular, predictable attendance is required.
