Job Overview: The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the full accounting cycle, including month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and managing accounts payable and receivable. This role involves preparing journal entries, handling payroll processing, ensuring tax compliance, and supporting internal controls. The Senior Accountant will collaborate with cross-functional teams, assist with audits, and provide consulting services to clients, ensuring accurate financial management and timely reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, financial reporting, and system implementations, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Month-End Close: Ensure accurate and timely month-end close of financial statements. Prepare and book journal entries (depreciation, amortization, accruals, operating leases, payroll, etc.).
- Financial Reporting: Prepare financial statements, conduct variance analysis, and present findings to upper management.
- Reconciliations: Manage and maintain general ledger accounts, bank reconciliations, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Payroll Processing: Record payroll transactions, manage semi-monthly and bi-weekly payrolls.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Oversee full accounts payable cycle, process invoices, secure approvals, issue payments, manage AR invoicing, collections, and deferred revenue schedules.
- Tax Compliance: Prepare and file 1099 forms (NEC, MISC, INT), manage tax filings such as Delaware Franchise Tax and Sales & Use Tax.
- Accounting Systems: Assist with implementation of accounting workflows and systems, and provide support for system transitions.
- Cross-Functional Communication: Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors, clients, and auditors.
- Internal Controls: Support internal control procedures to ensure compliance and financial accuracy.
- Audit Support: Assist with external audits, provide documentation, and respond to PBC (Prepared By Client) list inquiries.
- Consulting & Support: Provide consulting services to clients on financial closing, financial statements, month-end reconciliation, and taxation issues.
- Other Duties: Resolve discrepancies, assist with ad-hoc financial projects, and provide general accounting support as needed.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5 years of accounting experience, with a focus on month-end close, financial reporting, and reconciliations.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and tax regulations.
- Experience with accounting software and systems.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills to interact with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
Preferred:
- Experience working with clients in the technology, software, or accounting industries.
- Experience with payroll processing and tax filings across multiple states.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve accounting discrepancies independently
