Position Description:
The Equestrian Tech and Assistant Instructor is responsible for all aspects of daily care for horses and other animals at the center. This role includes instructing in the Centers current lesson program and Pony Club guidelines 3 days a week. Helping in assisting, planning and execution of programming, clinics, shows, and other events. The position also involves assisting the Equestrian Director and performing light administrative duties within the small retail store and helping maintain the farrier schedule as well also be expected to perform basic veterinary care and handle a variety of horses in varying weather conditions.

Essential Job Functions:
• Lead by example and promote the core values, characteristics, employee constitution, and decision-making processes at Oldfield.
• Provide comprehensive horse care, including but not limited to feeding, turnout, grooming, and general health maintenance.
• Maintain the equestrian center, including pastures, horse stalls, and facility grounds.
• Confident in their teaching abilities for the lower-level lesson program to adults and children while being able to follow the current curriculum in place and Pony Club guidelines.
• Prepare horses for rides and assist in the lesson program when needed to while following the current guidelines and curriculum.
• Provide light exercise and riding horses if necessary.
• Conduct, and schedule pony rides and assist with any additional daily care related to the ride program.
• Help maintain farrier schedule and assist with any office duties related to the retail aspect of the center.
• Greet customers with a positive, helpful attitude, and handle ride registration procedures efficiently.
• Order necessary supplies as directed by the Director.
• Keep an accurate inventory of supplies and equipment.
• Perform errands as necessary to support the program.
• Complete other duties as assigned by equestrian management.
• Adhere to the company’s safety policies, ensuring a safe environment for staff, customers, and equipment, in compliance with all applicable regulations.
• Assist with the setup, planning, execution, and breakdown of equestrian programming and events.
• Uphold and promote the standards set by Oldfield Club in all aspects of the role.
Job Requirements:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum of 4 years professional horse husbandry experience
• Basic Knowledge and demonstration of equine and human first aid.
• Ability to recognize a sick or lame horse.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion, follow instructions completely with attention to detail.
• Interact with members, guests and co-workers on a professional level at all times.
• Must speak fluent English and possess excellent communication skills.
• Must multitask, with interruptions, changes and delays while meeting daily deadlines.
• Valid DL issued by U.S. state.
• Must be able to remain calm, think clearly and act quickly in emergencies.
Equipment to be used: Vehicle, farm equipment, routine equine tools and equipment, and office equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Capable of working extended hours, to include weekends, nights and holidays.
• Frequent or occasional need to perform the following physical activities: reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting, and climbing.
• Frequent need to perform standing and walking activities. Position involves walking, standing and/or movement throughout the day.
• Constant need to perform the following physical activities: grasping, turning, finger dexterity.
