Corporate opportunities at the support center in Atlanta, GA and the one company-operated cafe in Atlanta, GA are managed by Tropical Smoothie Cafe, LLC, the franchisor of the Tropical Smoothie Cafe system.Position : Corporate CounselLocation : Atlanta, GAJob Id : 351# of Openings : 1SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIESThe Corporate Counsel will be a key member of the Legal Team reporting directly to the General Counsel. The Legal Team provides legal counsel and services in a variety of areas, including franchising, intellectual property, corporate contracting, consumer protection, employment law, e-commerce, risk management, privacy and information security, litigation management, and regulatory and franchise compliance. The Corporate Counsel will work closely with the General Counsel and other members of the Legal Team, the Leadership Team, outside counsel, franchise administration and other departments. The Corporate Counsel must possess excellent communication, organization and relationship skills, as well as the ability to work cross-functionally while seeking business solutions that effectively manage risks consistent with the Company’s policies and practices.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSCollaborate with, and support, the General Counsel and other legal team members and business stakeholders on a variety of matters.Provide support on franchise-related matters, including : formulate strategies as well as establish and maintain guidelines to provide timely advice and mitigate risk related to franchising to support the Company’s business goals and objectives;facilitate franchise compliance through participation on a cross-functional team, develop strategies to ensure compliance, and prepare related communications and notices as needed;assist with updates to the Company’s Franchise Disclosure Document and related regulatory filings.Provide guidance and counsel to business and technology stakeholders on a range of consumer privacy and information technology and security issues (including matters concerning compliance with applicable privacy laws, rules, and regulations) and assist with the management of the Company’s privacy compliance.Support business team members on existing commercial arrangements, including vendor and supplier contracts and relationships; draft and negotiate commercial contracts.Partner with business stakeholders and other legal team members to identify, monitor and manage existing and emerging risks.Review external communications, including press releases, and other announcements, and significant internal communications.Manage service of process matters, including subpoenas, demands and litigation.Assist in the management of the Company’s intellectual property portfolio.Provide legal support on other strategic projects and initiatives.REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTSJD from an ABA accredited school and licensed to practice in at least one U.S. state.Minimum 5 years of legal experience (some private practice experience preferred).Relevant experience in the franchise, restaurant, retail, hospitality industry is recommended.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, KNOWLEDGE, OR LICENSESStrong interpersonal, written, communication and relationship building skills.Solution oriented with outstanding customer service abilities.Self-starter : able to clarify ambiguity and create solutions in a fast-paced organization.Problem-solver and team player.Ability to work cross-functionally and build working relationships through collaboration, influence and negotiation to successfully accomplish a task.Strong project management and organizational skills with proven problem-solving abilities.Ability to work on tight deadlines in a fast-paced, team environment.Occasional travel for meetings and cafe visits.Resourceful and organized with an appreciation and attention towards important details.#J-18808-Ljbffr
