What we are looking for: Hotel Manager

The Hotel Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Belden House & Mews, ensuring a high level of guest satisfaction while managing staff, finances, and resources efficiently. The role involves a wide range of tasks, from strategic planning to ensuring operational excellence in both customer service and business operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guest Service Management:
  • Ensure high levels of guest satisfaction by overseeing service standards.
  • Address guest complaints and resolve issues promptly to maintain a positive experience.
  • Develop and implement customer service policies and procedures.
  • Drive a preponderance of positive reviews on social media and other platforms.
  • Operational Management:
  • Oversee the daily operations of the hotel, including front desk, housekeeping, food and beverage services, and maintenance.
  • Monitor and manage room occupancy, property management (PMS) and related systems, and reservations to maximize revenue.
  • Ensure hotel facilities and amenities are well-maintained and meet health and safety standards.
  • Staff Management:
  • Recruit, train, and manage hotel staff (e.g., front desk agents, housekeeping, kitchen staff).
  • Set performance expectations and monitor employee performance, providing feedback and coaching as needed.
  • Foster a positive working environment and team culture.
  • Schedule shifts, manage payroll, and ensure proper staffing levels at all times.
  • Financial Management:
  • This position will help create and manage the hotel operating budget, ensuring financial targets are met.
  • Analyze financial reports and implement cost-saving strategies.
  • Oversee billing, invoicing, and payment processing.
  • Monitor inventory and manage purchasing to control costs.
  • Compliance and Legal Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the hotel adheres to all local laws and regulations, including health, safety, and labor laws.
  • Oversee property inspections and audits to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Manage hotel licenses, insurance, and certifications.
  • Strategic Planning and Development:
  • Evaluate business performance and implement plans for growth and improvement.
  • Conduct market research to stay ahead of industry trends and competitor activities.
  • Implement initiatives for sustainability and eco-friendly practices in hotel operations.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in hotel management or a related role, with a proven track record of success.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Leadership: Excellent leadership and people management abilities.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to handle complex problems, often under pressure.
  • Financial Acumen: Proficient in budgeting, financial forecasting, and reporting.
  • Technology: Familiarity with hotel Opera or similar PMS system, Micros or similar POS systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Customer Focus: Strong commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Multitasking: Ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to Detail: High attention to detail, especially in the context of guest experience and operational quality.

Working Conditions:

  • Hours: The role typically requires long hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on the needs of the hotel.
  • Environment: This is a fast-paced environment, where you will need to be available to resolve issues and make decisions at any time.
  • Physical Demands: The position may require walking, standing, and occasional lifting of light objects.
