The Financial Systems Analyst is responsible for maintenance and support of the firm's financial system, Aderant, and associated systems, as well as support and maintenance of the Firm's SQL database environments. The Financial Systems Analyst collaborates with teams to provide subject matter expertise involving client accounting and how to support key firm needs through existing platforms, as well as identify and act on needed enhancements to take full advantage of automation and process improvements.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist with technical support, implementation projects for Aderant and other integrated financial systems, including SSRS reports, Budgeting, Expert Billing, AP, Rate and Collections, and Time Entry.
- Assure successful support of the full end-to-end cycle for processes within the system, including requirement gathering, planning, testing, and implementing.
- Work directly with Aderant support on identification and resolution of day-to-day needs, opening support tickets and helping to resolve issues.
- Support the overall installation, customization, enhancement, maintenance, and support of the financial systems, primarily Aderant Expert and its peripheral applications (ChromeRiver, BillBlast, iTimekeep, and BigHand).
- Support identification and resolution of issues relating to the financial applications, including Expert Classic, Expert Billing, AP, Rate and Collections, BillBlast, and iTimekeep.
- Participate in technical and functional aspects of all financial systems-related projects, including analysis of the current business needs, detection of critical deficiencies, and recommendation of solutions for improvement.
- Maintain detailed documentation of all established procedures, assumptions, methodologies, and sources of information employed as part of all analytical tasks.
- Provide requested data and reports to support design and feature decisions for the systems using tools such as T-SQL, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Aderant Expert, BigHand, Power BI, Tableau, and Excel.
- Customize forms, templates, and design custom inquiries and tiles using Aderant Experts Design Studio and End-User painter.
- Develop, modify, and maintain billing templates using SQL and DocuDraft.
- Help maintain user security, Data Integrity, Rules and Guidelines within Aderant Expert.
- Develop skills, knowledge, and ability to improve processes and procedures as well as to keep updated on trends and developments in the industry.
- Maintain current knowledge of accounting reporting changes, and plan for changes in response to dynamic business needs.
- Provide additional support for month-end time and billing closing of Aderant Expert as requested.
- Extensive working knowledge and understanding of SQL, stored procedures and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
- In-depth understanding of the Expert data structure; Power BI, Tableau and BigHand experience a plus.
- Experience developing customizations to Aderant Expert forms, inquiries, and rules with Expert’s Design Studio.
- Demonstrated success with timely delivery of high-quality product while managing multiple deadlines.
- Demonstrated success with effective work practices, working as a team member and building relationships with clients, attorneys, internal departments, and vendors while also maintaining confidential information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven experience adding value, building efficiency, and improving accuracy and reliability of information for the firm.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills required, with a focus in Excel.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and with teams to promote consistent and efficient workflow processes.
- Ability to self-manage and work independently in a hybrid, and in-office setting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Information Systems.
- Minimum of five (5) years' experience with SQL-based database management systems.
- Hands-on experience retrieving data by writing complex SQL.
- Experience administering Financial Accounting systems, with a thorough working knowledge of both the database and application components.
- Previous experience with project implementation and Aderant within in a law firm environment a plus.
