Role Summary The primary purpose of the position is to serve as a Program Officer to further the Foundation’s mission and increase its investment in activities that focus on financial well-being. This position serves as a champion, strategic partner and thought leader for giving programs, grant making and community engagement by staying informed of current trends, best practices, benchmarks and relevant approaches that align to the firm’s and Foundation’s values. Additionally, this role will support other strategic initiatives of the Foundation. Responsibilities Grant Portfolio Development & Management Lead the development of the financial well-being portfolio, strategic planning, and operational processes which includes the full investment, development and process of grants Strategize and operationalize the financial well-being giving portfolio in support of the Foundation’s philanthropic values and identified areas of interest. Conduct research, provide background data and information, and prepare recommendations and assessments Develop, nurture and sustain relationships with organizations in the financial well-being sector, including regular check-in meetings and site visits with grantees and prospective grantees Build external partnerships, collaborations and initiatives to advance work of core area(s) Share and incorporate lessons learned from grant investments, networking meetings, and other foundation-related activities Best Practices Create/participate in learning communities and collaborative networks among grantees and partners, develop and manage learning and evaluation components for grants, and cultivate a wide breadth and depth of knowledge about trends, practices and issues relevant to community and economic development Community Engagement Be an inspiring advocate and active participant in the community, and with key organizations. Provide critical support to grantees in translating strategic goals into implementation plans to drive impact in core area(s) Collaboration and Consultation Represent the Foundation among key constituents including city officials, non-profit, and community leaders Strategic Initiatives and Special Projects Strategize and conceptualize potential approaches to a situations or challenges and develop and socialize recommended approach Develop and execute project plans, including project management, coordination, and implementation Create and track budgets for special projects in collaboration with Learning Officer Coordinate with and onboard outside vendors or consultants who might assist in executing special projects Other duties and responsibilities as assigned Typical Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience AND 5 years of total relevant work experience Preferred 6-10 years’ work experience in the nonprofit sector, with Track record of developing, implementing, and evaluating strategies to effect change Strong collaborative, interpersonal, and communication skills, including listening well, conveying thoughts clearly, public speaking, and the ability to persuade and influence Possess strong organizational and project management skills Adept at developing and managing relationships with a wide range of individuals and entities (e.g., nonprofits, external vendors, corporate colleagues) Ability to successfully navigate a corporate culture and deliver results within a matrixed organizational structure Works effectively as a member of a team Proactively identifies opportunities and implements solutions while adapting to a changing environment Knowledge of philanthropy, community development, financial well-being and strategies to support greater self-determination among community members Understanding of nonprofit organizational health and development and strengthening nonprofit and community-based organizations.
