Job Summary
The mission of Troxler labs is to be the world’s leading producer of high-quality testing solutions for the Geotech and road construction industries. To meet this goal, Troxler needs self-motivated people to help with the research and development of our next generation of technologies. The Geotechnical Testing Technician reports to the Research & Development group and is responsible for operational testing, data collection, and data analysis. The Technician will provide support to the Research & Development group in testing and development of new and existing equipment and methods in the laboratory and field. In addition, the Analyst will be expected to work independently under limited supervision.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Conducts experiments/procedures both in the lab and in the field; Typical materials to be tested are soil, asphalt, concrete, aggregates, and masonry
· Prepares samples for laboratory testing
· Maintains laboratory records, follows laboratory policies and procedures and maintains quality control and quality improvement practices
· Inventory management of parts, supplies and finished goods
· Works on ASTM development standards for construction materials research, ILS studies, etc.
· Works with customers to test prototypes, collect field data, and feedback to improve new and existing products.
· Works at heights following proper safety procedures, when required
· Travel to remote sites for field testing spending up to a week, when required
· Ability to work weekends and extended hours, when required
Prerequisite Skills and Education:
- High School Diploma/GED required
- 2- year Technical degree a plus
- General Electronic/Mechanical knowledge a plus
- General sample preparation skills a plus
- Prior experience operating and/or testing sensors/detectors a plus
- Experience recording and maintaining scientific records
- Experience working independently, with limited supervision
- Knowledge of and commitment to standard lab & field safety and hygiene practices is required
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills to deal with co-workers, internal and external customers
- Promote cooperation and teamwork among staff
- Competent with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Good math, problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment weighing up to 56 lbs.
- Excellent driving record- Driver’s license is required
