In this key role, you'll be responsible for both coordinating shipments and fostering relationships with carriers and customers.
Job Overview:
The ideal candidate will have a background in freight planning, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. You will be working closely with drivers, customers, and third-party logistics (3PL) providers to ensure the timely and efficient movement of freight. Your primary focus will be managing shipments, optimizing routes, and enhancing operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Freight Coordination & Dispatching:
- Effectively coordinate and schedule shipments with carriers to meet customer deadlines.
- Track shipments using 3PL tools and phone systems, ensuring timely updates and resolutions to any issues.
- Fostering New Relationships
- Reaching out to potential new customers to introduce our service and explore options to work together.
- Follow up and track outreach efforts to ensure continued growth with the potential customers.
- Communication & Relationship Building:
- Communicate clearly and professionally with drivers, customers, and internal teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Provide excellent customer service by promptly addressing concerns and inquiries.
- Collaboration with Internal and External Teams:
- Work alongside transportation management systems (TMS) and third-party logistics providers (3PL) to facilitate efficient freight movements.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Proven experience in dispatching, preferably within a freight or transportation environment (1 year required).
- Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS) and 3PL tools is a plus.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong work ethic with an willingness to learn and adapt
- Strong analytical skills to assess transportation data and make informed decisions.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on professional phone etiquette.
- Ability to work well under pressure, prioritize tasks, and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Location & Availability:
- Ability to commute to the Brentwood, MO 63144 Office (required)
- Must be willing to relocate to Brentwood, MO 63144, before starting work (if applicable).
