We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Payroll Specialist to join Utahs largest insurance brokerage. In this role, you will be responsible for processing payroll for multiple locations across the country, including handling commissions, and ensuring that all employees are paid accurately and on time. You will also serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries, addressing any concerns employees may have about their paystubs and deductions.
Duties And Responsibilities
Compensation: $50,000 - $60,000 annually

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Payroll Specialist to join Utahs largest insurance brokerage. In this role, you will be responsible for processing payroll for multiple locations across the country, including handling commissions, and ensuring that all employees are paid accurately and on time. You will also serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries, addressing any concerns employees may have about their paystubs and deductions.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Process multi-state payroll for a diverse workforce, ensuring accurate calculations and timely delivery for salaried, hourly, and variable pay structures, including commissions and bonuses.
- Ensure all payroll taxes, deductions, and wage reporting are in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Resolve any issues that employees may have regarding their pay, tax deductions, direct deposits, or other payroll-related matters.
- Generate and maintain comprehensive and accurate payroll records, ensuring all documentation is up to date for auditing and compliance purposes.
- Critically think through payroll issues, troubleshoot discrepancies, and independently develop solutions while considering broader implications and potential outcomes.
- Take on various payroll-related projects including process improvements, audits, compliance initiatives, and cross-departmental collaborations
- 3 years of payroll experience
- General knowledge of payroll laws and regulations across multiple states, the complexities of managing a variety of pay structures, and reading payroll tax documents
- Experience processing commission splits and handling commission-based compensation, including 1099 contractors is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with payroll platforms (HCM preferred) and the ability to learn new software systems quickly
- Ability to maintain attention to detail while managing large data sets and competing priorities
- Strong Verbal and written communications skills for frequent communication with employees, administrators, and management
