Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to patients in various settings, including inpatient care, emergency medicine, and outpatient clinics. This role is crucial in ensuring that patients receive high-quality care and assistance during their recovery or treatment processes. The Personal Care Assistant will work closely with healthcare professionals in a Level I Trauma Center and teaching hospital environment, contributing to the overall well-being of patients.
Duties
- Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide support in medical-surgical settings, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Monitor and report changes in patients' conditions to nursing staff or physicians.
- Help with mobility assistance, including transferring patients from beds to wheelchairs or assisting with walking.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient areas and equipment in the clinic or hospital setting.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams in various departments such as OR, PICU, and hospital medicine to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Participate in educational activities and training sessions to enhance skills related to patient care.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Personal Care Assistant or similar role is preferred but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with medical terminology related to inpatient care, emergency medicine, and surgical procedures is advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment within a Level I Trauma Center or teaching hospital setting.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals and patients alike.
