Summary
This is a full-time position that is responsible for the supervision and direction of Pipeline Controllers working in the Casper Control Center. This position will be responsible for overseeing the operation of pipelines and various pumping stations remotely from the Pipeline Control Center via SCADA; including the monitoring and controlling of liquids pipelines, as well as providing emergency response coordination and control for Pipeline Operations. The Console Supervisor also provides coverage to other Controllers – covering vacation and time off requests. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.
Responsibilities
- Providing leadership in operations, personnel and process safety.
- Supervising assigned Pipeline Controllers; counseling employees on safe practices, and recommending disciplinary action as/if needed.
- Consulting with employees on daily status reports; report status to Control Center Supervisor.
- Supporting and responding to any Control Room incidents and/or issues.
- Manage Hours of Service and modify schedules as needed.
- Overseeing Fatigue Management compliance and implementing corrective action as needed.
- Training incoming Controller Trainee’s and provide support to Controller I (s)
- Promoting teamwork and encouraging responsible decision-making to all Pipeline Controllers.
- Managing and resolving conflicts by active listening and escalate field concerns.
- Producing daily reports, trend data and operational information to management as needed.
- Engineering protection and control diagram proficient.
- Setting flow rates, pressures, and monitor tank levels at the company facilities and third party pipeline interconnections and delivery points.
- Ability to interface successfully with schedulers regarding pumping orders and field personnel as needed to execute those orders and mitigate any abnormal or alarm conditions as necessary.
- Providing emergency response coordination and control.
- Responsible for working with control center staff to ensure control room procedures are kept up to date:
- Including drafting procedures for new facilities and equipment as new facilities are brought into the SCADA system and reviewing existing procedures and updating them as necessary.
- Reviewing and updating Control Room Management (CRM) procedures as needed to maintain compliance with regulations.
- Maintaining records to demonstrate compliance with CRM procedures and assist in regulatory audits with regard to those records.
- Providing coverage for other control room staff as needed to cover vacation /time off requests.
- Assisting in interviewing, hiring, and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent education with five (5) years of experience within oil and gas pipeline operations; and/or two (2) years of service as a Controller II, and has demonstrated the ability to help train the Trainee/Controller I(s); or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
- Must be willing to work a twelve (12) hour rotating shift as part of a twenty-four/seven (24/7) Pipeline Control Operation. This will require working nights, weekends and holidays. Must be willing to be on call as needed.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- English language fluency, verbal and written.
- Acceptable results of a pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol test.
