Position Summary:
The Mental Health Counselor is responsible for providing individual, group, and family therapy to clients experiencing mental health challenges. This role requires a commitment to trauma-informed care, a person-centered approach, and a desire to support clients on their journey to recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Therapeutic Services:
- Conduct individual sessions using evidence-based approaches.
- Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to client needs and goals.
- Provide crisis intervention and support as needed.
- Assessment and Planning:
- Complete initial assessments, including diagnostic evaluations and risk assessments.
- Collaborate with clients to establish therapeutic goals and monitor progress.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with state regulations and agency policies.
- Ensure confidentiality and ethical standards are upheld in all interactions.
- Collaboration and Advocacy:
- Work collaboratively with clients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care.
- Advocate for clients to access additional resources and services when necessary.
- Professional Development:
- Participate in supervision, team meetings, and ongoing professional training.
- Stay current on best practices and developments in the field of mental health counseling.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related field.
- Licensure: Active Maine licensure as an LCPC, LCPC-C, LCSW, or equivalent.
- Experience: Experience providing mental health counseling preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong therapeutic and communication skills.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices and trauma-informed care.
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems.
- Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass a background check.
