What are the responsibilities and job description for the Catholic Religious Education Coordinator position at True North Consulting LLC?
We are seeking a qualified Catholic Religious Education Coordinator (CREC) to support the Fort Johnson Chapel Community in delivering vibrant, well-organized, and theologically sound Catholic religious education programs for children, youth, and adults. The CREC will work closely with Catholic Chaplains and the Religious Support Office to coordinate, plan, and administer year-round educational activities in accordance with Roman Catholic doctrine and U.S. Army policy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee Catholic religious education programs (weekly classes, sacramental prep, RCIA, retreats, and seasonal events)
- Recruit and manage volunteer catechists and support staff
- Prepare calendars, lesson plans, teaching materials, and event logistics
- Maintain attendance records, registration, and program evaluations
- Ensure compliance with Chapel Tithes and Offering Fund (CTOF) policies
- Coordinate childcare and special events (e.g., Vacation Bible School)
- Communicate regularly with chapel staff, volunteers, and military families
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 64 college credit hours from an accredited institution (minimum GPA: 2.5)
- At least 2 years of experience in Catholic religious education (volunteer or paid)
- Strong knowledge of Catholic doctrine and liturgical practices
- Experience working in diverse or military community settings
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
- Proficiency in basic office software (Word, Excel, email)
- Must be able to pass a background check and obtain base access
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with military families or in a chapel ministry
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
- Catechist certification or formal ministry training
Other Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work on a military installation
- Must complete Army-mandated trainings (e.g., Anti-Terrorism, OPSEC, Cyber Awareness)
- May require evening and weekend availability based on chapel programming needs
