Summary
This is a full-time position that is responsible for overseeing a broader financial oversight, managing various accounting functions such as accounts payable reconciliation, financial reporting, month-end close processes, and internal controls.
Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations of the accounts payable function.
- Manage and mentor accounting team members, providing training and development opportunities.
- Ensure all processes contain the necessary internal controls, and ensure all processes are followed.
- Perform periodic process evaluations, including process mapping, to evaluate for consistency and efficiency.
- Manage the issuance of invoices to customers, including the accurate calculation of amounts owed, application of discounts or credits, and adherence to contractual terms.
- Review accruals for expenses incurred but not yet invoiced, as well as prepayments made for future services or goods.
- Collaborate with internal departments such as purchasing, receiving, and finance to facilitate smooth processing of invoices and payments.
- Collaborate with operations, vendors and/or customers to resolve any accounting-related issues to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Oversee sales tax reporting process, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and review journal entries for adjustments to accounts.
- Generating reports related to accounts payable including ageing reports, cash flow projections, and analysis of payment trends.
- Analyze financial data and provide reports to leadership to support strategic decision-making
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements.
- Coordinate and assist with external audits, ensuring proper documentation and compliance.
- This position is responsible for directly supervising staff.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting with a minimum of five (5) years of experience including two (2) years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
- Ability to reason and problem-solve to complete duties assigned.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to produce accurate work and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to master various in-house software applications is essential.
- English language fluency, verbal and written.
- Acceptable results of a pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol test.
