What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Inspector position at True Position Technologies (TPT)?
Position Summary
The Senior Quality Inspector performs in-process & final inspections on all manufactured parts produced as well as inspection of raw materials and other resources as required. This position has the responsibility of a mentor to train other employees in blueprint reading, use of quality inspection tools, and manufactured part inspection.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs visual, dimensional, and mechanical inspections on machined parts, incoming materials, and product from outside processing to ensure specifications and verifies accompanying documentation is correct.
- Verifies part identification and marking, as well as handling part counts and movement to various work centers.
- Familiarity with (Coordinate Measurement Machines) CMM and be able to perform basic inspections and have experience with various types of standard measuring equipment.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T and an understanding of ASME Y14.5 and the ability to apply these fundamentals to all inspections, including the ability to interface with engineering when a drawing is lacking the correct call-outs.
- Recommends measures to improve conformance of manufactured parts and parts received from outside processing when observed.
- Documents defects or non-conformances on appropriate documentation and reports to QA team.
- Maintains inspection tools and assists in locating and preparing gages for issuance to production operators for in -process inspection when needed.
- Inspects for surface finish, hardness, and other visual dimensional and mechanical requirements.
- Performs dimensional inspection of parts using comparator and all associated gages.
- Complete inspection reports as required and completes appropriate sign offs on production travelers.
- Mentors and trains other employees completing in-process, final, and visual inspections.
- Any additional duties as assigned by management
- Adheres to Company Quality Management System policies and procedures to ensure product quality.
Physical Requirements
- Flexible and long hours are sometimes required. Physically medium duty work required.
- Requires standing continuously and walking and sitting occasionally throughout the day.
- Able to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 25 pounds frequently
- Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically, ability to view parts and/or raw material to inspect for defects and dimensions using blueprints/drawings.
Experience and Education
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- At least 7 years of quality inspection of metal parts
- Experience with Quality Systems (ISO, AS, NADCAP)
- Ability to use a variety of precision measuring devices and utilize inspection fixture and gages.
- Ability to inspect parts utilizing a CMM and optical comparator.
- Ability to read, work from, and understand blueprints, specifications, written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to use a computer and knowledge of Office 365.
- Ability to write notes, instructions, and other written communication items.
