Position Overview
An established manufacturing company is seeking a Safety & Environmental Professional to lead compliance, training, and continuous improvement initiatives in workplace health, safety, and environmental performance. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, while developing systems that promote a safe and environmentally responsible culture across the plant.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of safety, industrial hygiene, and environmental programs aligned with regulatory and corporate standards.
- Manage compliance activities across environmental programs, including air permits, water discharge, hazardous waste, and DOT Hazmat regulations.
- Conduct and lead investigations for all safety incidents and near-misses; develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Oversee required safety training programs, including onboarding and annual refreshers; ensure all training is documented and current.
- Monitor and maintain compliance with Title V/MACT air permits, including stack testing, temperature monitoring, and recordkeeping.
- Manage hazardous waste disposal and reduction initiatives (RCRA), including facility audits and training programs.
- Schedule and conduct regular emergency response drills across all shifts, covering evacuation, spill response, and medical emergencies.
- Support industrial hygiene efforts, including noise monitoring and air quality assessments; implement PPE and engineering controls where needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation and timely submission of reports to regulatory agencies.
- Facilitate Safety Committee meetings, track action items, and promote plant-wide engagement in the safety culture.
- Maintain SDS records, contractor safety protocols, and required safety equipment inspections.
- Assist in policy reviews and emergency response planning in collaboration with site leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
- 5 years of experience managing safety and environmental compliance in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, RCRA, DOT, and state regulatory requirements.
- Hands-on experience managing air, water, and hazardous waste compliance programs.
- Strong training, communication, and team leadership skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with safety audit or compliance tracking systems a plus.
Preferred
- Certified in Forklift Train-the-Trainer, Confined Space Entry, or Fall Protection
- Previous experience leading safety programs in a chemical or high-volume production facility
- Industrial hygiene testing and program development experience
Salary : $75,000 - $90,000
