Product Development Engineer

JOB SUMMARY:
A Product Development Engineer will lead the efforts of one or more R&D projects ranging from concepts through product definition. The person in this role will be working with all disciplines involved in the manufacturing, testing, and analysis for all testing performed on an assigned project. Through results analysis, the Product Engineer will drive iterations of the product design, process control and material selections.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Design and create products that achieve “differentiated” performance in ballistics and accuracy that can work across a wide range of weapons.
- Execute characterization and testing across multiple departments – material selection, process steps
- Develop product development milestones and performance objectives to deliver project requirements on time.
- Confirm product performance by designing and conducting tests – design of experiments - analysis.
- Establish the proper process controls are in place to successfully transfer products to volume manufacturing.
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Ensure product and company reputations by complying with federal and state regulations.
- Maintain project data through recognized data collection systems.
- Teamwork and collaboration are required to successfully perform this role.
- Perform other duties as assigned including production or customer support.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or related field.
- Highly organized, great attention to detail; be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Must be a team player and work well with others and have the ability to handle constructive challenges to ideas as well as constructively challenge ideas.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to effectively communicate across functional boundaries and with senior leadership.
- Demonstrated strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong demonstration of initiative and ability to drive for results.
- Ability to work in stressful situations and arrive at creative and effective solutions.
- Self-motivated and energetic with a results-oriented attitude.
- Ability to think strategically.
- Willingness to learn while on the job and adapt to new and unique situations.
- Experience in the ammunition design and manufacturing industry is a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
The physical demands and working conditions requirement indicated below are examples of the demands that must be performed in carrying out the essential job functions.
Physical Demands:
Sitting, standing, and walking (up to continuously); frequent use of computer and telephone requiring repetitive finger, hand, and arm movement; occasionally carry office supplies and other miscellaneous items up to 50 pounds. Continuous use of seeing, hearing, verbal communication.
Working Conditions: Work indoors and outdoors; exposure to temperatures commensurate with outdoor seasonal temperatures.
