The Construction Supervisor oversees FTTH/Telecom construction crews. The Construction Supervisor's responsibilities include monitoring crew performance and making recommendations for improvement, motivating, and educating teams in areas of production, quality, and safety. This position ensures projects stay within budget, on schedule, and that required materials and equipment are available while adhering to safety guidelines. The successful candidate will be reliable, deadline-driven, able to demonstrate a sound understanding of safety regulations and building codes, and be able to transfer this knowledge to the team. Duties & Responsibilities
- Ability to lead daily work planning meetings and safety briefs with respective crews to ensure a proper plan.
- Ability to review the daily target production goals with all crews, prior to commencing work.
- Assist in building both underground and aerial aspects of the FTTH network, which requires strict quality standards; Supervise in-house and subcontract resources.
- Assist Construction Manager in identifying and removing potential project roadblocks.
- Responsible for managing timelines and ensuring the schedule is maintained.
- Track daily production for each crew and ensure to achieve schedule demands.
- Ability to check all crews initial set up for safety and ensure all crews are starting their job safely.
- Correctly complete a JHA in the project management system for each subcontracting crew.
- Ability to take photos of specific elements of plant that will be subject to close outs, and upload into project management system.
- Ensure all necessary data is uploaded into the project management system.
- Monitor work environment and take appropriate action to ensure the safety of personnel based on environmental conditions.
- Ensure that the Right of Way/work area is safe and secure from any pedestrian obstacles and potential casualties.
- Ensure and reinforce positive work behavior activity in real time.
- Ability to immediately stop work when observing any unsafe behavior in real time.
- Ensure all employees have a safe working environment and complete Safety Observations throughout the day. Record all safety deviations in the project management system.
- Follow up with Construction Manager throughout the day to provide status of crews, safety and production.
- Upon completion of work, should immediately wheel off the job to record footages, and upload respective data into the project management system. Included but not limited to, units, data, production, etc. Completing a Quality Work Observation form with completed work photos of applicable network elements subject to as built completion photos.
- Monitor and track work of subcontractors to ensure accountability and accuracy, as well as making sure that specifications are being met and standards are being followed for both construction and safety.
- Ensure all crews have safety vests, cones, truck signs, hard hats and any other required safety gear.
- Other related projects and duties as required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or similar required; Bachelor's degree in construction, business, management, or engineering preferred.
- 3 years of experience in the FTTH/Telecom construction industry.
- Ability to manage 3 crews at a time in a market.
- Excellent communicator, skilled in leading daily team meetings for safety and work planning.
- Ability to establish and maintain a positive teamwork environment and motivate a diverse technical and operations group effectively, from a great cultural standpoint with high level of integrity.
- Ability to creatively solve problems and implement change.
- Strong technology experience with the ability to record data from the field.
- Strong understanding of Construction drawings and the able to interpret Engineering work prints, permits, etc.
- Strong understanding of specific safety disciplines and practices to ensure safe job practices with the knowledge of proper PPE requirements.
- Knowledge of Work Area Protection for the job.
- Ensure that the team has the necessary tools and materials for the job.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to creatively solve problems and implement change.
- Ability to focus and keep calm under pressure in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment.
- Ability to work after hours, some weekends, and evenings when needed.
- Ability to relocate or travel to project locations.
- Willing to obtain an OSHA 30 and CPR certification.
- Valid driver’s license required, with clean driving record.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment, work in inclement weather, stand, and drive for extended periods of time.
- Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
- Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable and sustained use of your arms, legs, and moving your entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, sitting standing, and handling materials up to 75lbs.
