Position Overview
Trueline is looking for a qualified heavy civil/underground Utility Construction Superintendent to direct project activities and supervise field personnel as required to successfully complete projects according to schedule. The Superintendent will be responsible for leading and managing the on-site utility construction team and will coordinate and oversee all site work ensuring that quality standards, safety practices, and project timelines are met.
Must be willing to travel as needed
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides daily supervision and scheduling for grading, drainage, pipe laying, structures, and other miscellaneous construction by crews and subcontractors
- Ensures adherence to the project schedule, budget, scope, and quality standards
- Coordinates and oversees work site ensuring quality standards are maintained, maximizing efficiency, identifying problems and reporting any issues.
- Manages the work site construction team and maintains open communication with the project manager
- Attends project related meetings
- Responsible for materials, equipment, and machinery on site
- Monitors and ensures work site is clean, organized and promotes job safety, safe work practices, and rectifies job site hazards immediately
- Maintains records for site personnel such as daily field reports, orders, RFIs
- Maintains positive and respectful relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, coworkers, inspectors, and the public
- Other projects or duties as assigned
Requirements
- 5 years of experience as a Utility superintendent
- Strong leadership skills and supervisory skills including assigning, directing and inspecting work, scheduling, rewarding or disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving conflicts on large and complex projects.
- Proficient with MS Office and comfortable with project management and/or construction software
- Ability to interpret and build according to drawings, specifications, and other documents
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Display a professional and courteous attitude toward coworkers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
- Must be able to work some weekends and evenings when needed
- Regional travel required
- High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required, bachelor’s degree preferred
- Valid driver’s license required; class A driver’s license preferred
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment, work in inclement weather, stand, and drive for extended periods of time.
- Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas
- Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable and sustained use of your arms, legs, and moving your entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, sitting standing, and handling of materials up to 75lbs
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment
