The Bonds Account Executive is responsible for managing and expanding the bond portfolio by engaging closely with underwriters and clients. Key responsibilities include placing new business, negotiating rates, and arranging indemnity agreements. The role also involves active prospecting to build relationships with potential clients. Regular communication with internal staff is essential to maintain smooth operations and foster effective collaboration across the team.
Essential Job Functions
- Manage and deliver on performance commitments for customers, building and maintaining relationships with client ownership, senior officers, and carrier partners.
- Consult with clients on operational issues impacting surety credit, providing risk management recommendations to improve client risk profiles.
- Develop strategies with client input to address surety-related issues and maximize the available bond program.
- Analyze and present underwriting information to the surety company, offering specific recommendations for surety support.
- Manage and maintain client surety programs through regular meetings with client ownership, senior management, and the surety underwriting team.
- Conduct financial reviews and provide analytical presentations to the underwriting team.
- Participate actively in construction and surety-related associations, maintaining regular interaction with surety company personnel.
- Host and participate in social interactions with clients and surety personnel outside of business hours to strengthen relationships.
- Stay informed on industry developments, new products, legislation, coverages, and technology to continuously enhance knowledge and performance.
Credentials
- A four-year degree or equivalent work experience preferred
- Five years of experience in bonding is preferred
- Appropriate licensing and designations required
- AFSB designation preferred
- Must understand balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement and how they flow together.
- Ability identify/understand key financial ratios (liquidity, working capital, debt, etc.)

- Works well within a team setting while also independently handling tasks with a strong work ethic.
- Able to analyze information, articulate insights, and adapt quickly to changing demands.
- Upholds high standards of professionalism with a commitment to confidentiality.
- Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and basic PowerPoint.
