The Corporate Controller leads the company’s accounting functions, including internal and external financial reporting, tax compliance, risk management support, implementing and monitoring internal controls, facilitating audits, accounts receivable and payable processing, and treasury management. This position is broad-ranging and plays a key role within the finance organization. While being hands-on, this position also has significant exposure to the executive team. The Corporate Controller will lead a team to develop, scale and automate processes, systems, reports, and workflows to support company growth and evolution. This position will drive efficiencies, improve cash flow, mitigate risk and ensure timely financial reporting with the highest standard of quality.
Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:
· Lead, support, develop, and coach the accounting team while driving efficiency, process improvements, and robust internal controls.
· Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes including required entries, detailed analysis and reconciliation of all general ledger accounts, preparation of financial statements in compliance with U.S. GAAP and industry-specific standards, as well as debt covenant compliance and reporting.
· Manage day-to-day treasury activities to ensure consistent and timely reporting and forecasting of cash requirements, including debt and interest related transactions and requirements.
· Oversee local, state, and federal tax compliance to ensure the accurate and timely completion of all government reporting and tax filings.
· Supervise the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, implementing metric-driven performance criteria and analyzing opportunities to drive working capital improvement across the company.
· Create a high-performing culture focused on process improvement, delivering results, and value creation.
· Develop relationships with private equity owners, external auditors, tax advisors, and banking contacts to ensure timely, accurate, and value-added services are delivered in accordance with the company’s requirements.
· Support risk management services and renewals, including property, casualty, and benefits, balancing an optimal cost structure with potential risk.
· Serve as an advisor for the 401(k) plan and lead the annual plan audit, ensuring accuracy of financial statements and 5500.
· Assist with M&A activities as applicable, including financial due diligence, integration of financial reporting and shared services post-acquisition, and business combination accounting in compliance with ASC 805.
· Assist CFO and Executive Team with ad-hoc projects as needed.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA and/or Master’s degree highly preferred.
· 12-15 years of progressive accounting experience, with a mix of public accounting and industry experience within the manufacturing sector, and at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
· Expert knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and compliance requirements.
· Experience working within private equity backed businesses and knowledge of debt covenant and quality of earnings reporting.
· Strong communication skills and a proven ability to develop business partnerships supported by rapport and trust with stakeholders of all levels.
· Strong planning and execution skills with demonstrated business, systems, and process improvement impact in previous roles.
· Must be an entrepreneurial self-starter, with the ability to challenge the status quo and create a bias for action across an organization.
· Team player with a collaborative approach, cooperative attitude, and ability to work across multiple departments.
· Energized by working in a fast-paced environment with an emphasis on meeting deadlines and addressing urgent situations.
· Extensive experience using and mastering financial systems, including ERPs and financial reporting platforms
· Advanced user of Microsoft Excel and experience with financial modeling and analysis
· Ability to travel 10-20%
· This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and oversees a team of seven.
