JOB SUMMARY
This position advises Credit Union management of relevant needs, pertinent business opportunities, and material or adverse developments in the Community Partner population, and sustains constructive and productive relationships with organizations and partners to facilitate an appropriate level of support and contribution by the credit union to the community.
In addition to administrative and event support functions, this role includes production-related expectations to ensure measurable contributions to membership growth and engagement. The Business Development Specialist will actively support membership acquisition efforts through targeted outreach, engagement activities, and the execution of on-site events. This position is an entry-level position into the department, however, has clear expectations for gradually expanding into sales-related responsibilities over time.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
May include any and/or all of the following:
- Membership Growth & Business Development Support
- Assist Business Development Officers in member acquisition efforts through outreach at SEG locations, community events, and on-site enrollment activities.
- Track and report on engagement efforts and their impact on membership growth.
- Support the execution of membership drives, promotional campaigns, and strategic initiatives to increase credit union membership.
- Community & Partner Engagement
- Establish, develop, and maintain relationships with Community Partners to enhance collaboration and business growth.
- Work with Business Development staff to provide financial education opportunities to Community Partners and establish the credit union as their primary financial resource.
- Support and participate in community activities, including committees, affinity groups, Rotary, United Way, and other outreach efforts that enhance credit union visibility.
- Leverage Community Impact Teams (CITs) and local market resources to maximize efficiency and effectiveness in business development efforts.
- Event & Sponsorship Coordination
- Plan, coordinate, and execute SEG and community events, including enrollment drives, school affinity card initiatives, and sponsorship-related activities.
- Organize and process sponsorship and donation requests, working closely with Marketing, Accounting, Retail Branches, and community organizations to align with business development goals.
- Represent the credit union at community and business events outside of standard business hours.
- Marketing & Promotional Support
- Serve as a liaison between Business Development and Marketing to coordinate specific requests related to Community Partners, press releases, check presentations, and promotional materials.
- Create, package, and deliver credit union materials to SEGs and other business partners.
- Assist with social media content creation, including photography, videos, and event coverage, to support business development initiatives.
- Administrative & Operational Support
- Manage and maintain business development promotional inventory, working with vendors for new ideas, pricing, shipping, and distribution across various markets.
- Maintain financial oversight by reviewing budgets, expense reports, and department purchases for accuracy.
- Update and deliver new graphics or messaging to Community Partners as needed.
- Other Responsibilities
- Assist in the coordination of branch and member events, including promotions that may take place outside regular business hours.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the goals of the Business Development team.

QUALIFICATIONS
Critical Development Experiences:
Pursue opportunities for professional growth and development through training, education and self-study.
Successfully complete all applicable compliance training and testing.
Education and experience equivalent to:
High school diploma or equivalent, supplemented with one year of Marketing or related experience;
Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
REQUIREMENTS
Regular attendance and timeliness are essential functions of this position. While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand for a significant period of time and perform functions that require manual dexterity. The employee must occasionally reach above or below normal body position, stoop or bend, and carry, lift or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. A normal range of hearing, vision, and speech are required to effectively work with co-employees and members.

Follows regulatory and policy compliance requirements, which include those efforts in compliance with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Regulations, Identity Theft Red Flags and other compliance related Policies. This position also requires maintaining confidentiality with regard to non-public information about our members and the Credit Union.
