Position Overview :
We are seeking a self-motivated, adaptable, and creative Retail Business Development Manager to lead Truly Good Foods snack offerings and emerging Henrietta Said brand into new retail channels, fostering relationships with major retailers. The ideal candidate will be an expert in emerging CPG sales and brand development, capable of propelling exponential growth and expanding the business from inception to maturity.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Growth & Brand Leadership
- Lead the expansion strategy for Henrietta Said, driving product placements and visibility across new retail accounts.
- Build a strong retail presence by developing a roadmap for exponential sales growth and market share expansion.
- Champion Truly Good Foods' mission to deliver high-quality, innovative snack solutions that resonate with consumers and retailers alike.
Sales Strategy & Trade Promotion Management
Develop and implement sales strategies to drive revenue growth and meet company goals.Work closely with Retail National Account Manager to manage trade promotions, optimize promotional calendars, and ensure alignment with retail partners' marketing strategies.Monitor trade spending and promotional effectiveness, leveraging data-driven insights to refine strategies.Cross-functional Collaboration & Team Leadership
Work across product development, marketing, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless product presentations and initial orders.Develop and deliver impactful presentations to retail buyers, communicating brand stories and strategic value.Act as a brand champion internally and externally, inspiring teams and stakeholders toward shared growth goals.Financial Management & Analytics
Manage new business sales budgets and forecasts, ensuring strategic investment in growth initiatives.Analyze market data and performance metrics to identify new opportunities and optimize decision-making.Provide strategic insights to sales leadership, guiding future product development and market expansion.Retail & Partner Engagement
Cultivate relationships with new key retail buyers, category managers, and stakeholders to secure product placements.Lead contract negotiations and distribution strategies for both branded and private label products.Private Label & Bulk Snack Innovation
Identify opportunities for bulk snack sales and private label program development, aligning with customer and market needs.Spearhead the development of customized private label solutions for retail partners.Drive growth in bulk sales by aligning products with market demands and customer needs.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
An ideal candidate for this role should have :
Extensive Experience in Retail and Brand Development : Demonstrated success in leading business development initiatives, introducing and growing emerging CPG products to retailers, and building both private label and branded product lines.Proven Track Record of Exponential Sales Growth : Expertise in driving significant revenue expansion and market penetration, taking businesses from initial launch to established market leaders.Strong Leadership and Strategic Vision : Ability to influence cross-functional teams, develop comprehensive go-to-market strategies, and align organizational goals with market trends and customer demands.Analytical and Data-Driven Decision Making : Skilled at leveraging sales data and market insights to inform business strategies, optimize trade promotions, and achieve performance targets.Collaborative and Relationship-Focused : Excellent relationship management skills, adept at building strong partnerships with retail buyers, category managers, and internal stakeholders to ensure brand success and operational efficiency.Creative and Adaptable : Ability to navigate the complexities of emerging brand development and retail expansion while driving innovative solutions and strategies for sustained growth.Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field. Or relevant experience.5 years of experience in retail business development and sales within the CPG industry.Proven expertise in driving CPG brand growth from inception to maturity and expanding retail sales fourfold. Track record of success in launching emerging products with major retailers such as Target, Publix, and Costco preferred.Experience managing sales strategies, trade promotions, and financial budgets.Strong relationship management and negotiation skills.Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build brands and foster exponential growth.Adaptable, creative, and driven to achieve results in a fast-paced environment.Willingness to travel to engage with retail partners and attend industry events.Benefits
