- Assists in creating and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum and lesson plans.
- Takes over lesson planning and implementation when the Lead Teacher is absent.
- Maintains an orderly, active, and fun environment while engaging with children.
- Adheres to Vermont State Licensing Regulations and meets renewal requirements.
- Continuously identifies unfamiliar individuals picking up clients.
- Maintains open communication with families and co-workers.
- Assists in updating parent boards monthly.
- Helps Lead Teacher with semi-annual assessments.
- Creates a safe, caring, and supportive atmosphere for children, using positive discipline and attending client meetings when necessary.
- Positively represents the program to the community and maintains appropriate teacher/child ratios. Required Skills & Experience Knowledge
- Thorough understanding of child development, including differing abilities.
- Education requirements: oLevel III on the VT Early Childhood Career Ladder oOR Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Early Childhood, Child or Human Development, Elementary Education, or Child and Family Services 12 months experience oOR Certificate of Completion from the Apprenticeship Program oOR Child Care Certificate from CCV 12 months experience oOR 21 college credits with early childhood or school-age focus 12 months experience Skills
- Ability to pick up and carry a 30-pound child
- Ability to change positions freely, including getting up and down from the floor
- Professional communication with staff, clients, and the public
