We are a leader in the Trauma-Informed Care Movement, and provide training, coaching and consulting to outside organizations.Job DescriptionThe Medical Interpreter is responsible for facilitating communication, through accurate and complete interpretation services, between University Health clinical / non-clinical personnel and Limited English Proficient (LEP) patients / patients' families, in order to ensure culturally responsive and equitable care.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Six months experience working in a role requiring medical interpretation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Complete fluency in language(s) for which hired, demonstrated by passing competency exam with a minimum score of 85%, bilingual interview process and role playing
- Bridging the Gap, JCCC, SBA or equivalent required
- National certification preferredLanguage Access PRN Requirements
- Must be available to work a minimum of 8 shifts per one month scheduling cycle, to include one weekend, 2nd or 3rd shift, where applicable.
- Must obtain scheduling supervisor or management approval prior to requesting another PRN employee to work a scheduled shift.
- Holidays : Must work a minimum of one shift per calendar year from each Holiday Category as outlined below.
