Position Information Position Title Boiler Plant Foreman Job Responsibilities This position reports directly to the Systems Trades Supervisor and is responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance and repair of the central steam plant boilers, integral steam and feedwater piping and equipment and other integral plant systems and equipment, including natural gas, fuel oil and compressed air systems. Responsible for all aspects of supervising the boiler operators, including work scheduling and evaluation, hiring, training, and recognition.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide daily direction and leadership for boiler plant personnel, including management of weekly work schedules and staff evaluation, recognition and discipline as appropriate.
- Establish procedures and routines for operation, maintenance, repairs and monitoring in the boiler plant.
- Plan and coordinate purchasing of all necessary supplies, parts, equipment and services for the boiler plant.
- Evaluate boiler plant conditions and recommend projects for major repairs and improvements.
- Establish water testing and treatment parameters.
- Monitor environmental compliance in the boiler plant, including air emissions, spill prevention and control and hazardous waste management.
- Oversee a safety program to ensure all personnel know how to operate assigned equipment and perform assigned tasks in a safe manner and adhere to prescribed safety procedures.
- Identify necessary job skills, technical training, and qualification levels for boiler operators.
- Provide necessary curriculum and schedules for training programs.
- Oversee orderly storage of tools, materials and equipment.
- Be available for overtime work as necessary.
- Assume all other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Systems Trades Supervisor, including some duties outside of specialty.

(Up to 1 year of boiler vocational training may substitute for the same length of work experience.) Work history showing dependability and strong work ethic required.
