Overview
The Permit Technician by its nature is broad in scope and subject to modification from time to time. The following description is not meant to be restrictive, but to generally outline duties and responsibilities.
Objective
The objective of the permit technician includes but is not limited to:providing the support necessary for the Construction Department to be successful and deliver a quality home, on time, while meeting the Company’s Business Plan. Provide necessary support to the construction manager in timely submitting of new building plans, Code Updated plans and Building Permit applications. The permit technician will work to develop working relationships to facilitate cooperation with jurisdictions.
Responsibilities:
Support Construction Manager including, but not limited to:
- Request, submit and track building permits, various fees and plan submissions using jurisdictions online systems.
- Travel to pick up and/or deliver construction documents to jurisdictional authorities and to field staff.
- Work with Construction Manager to ensure that new plans and updated plans are processed and approved in a timely manner.
- Attend weekly Starts Meeting assisting, as needed, with pacing and adjusting to Business Plan.
- Work with Construction Manager in producing the starts request submittal to Corporate for Check approvals to process Building Permits.
- Ensure Building Permit applications are submitted in accordance with the starts report.
- Update plan library on a regular basis.
- Work with building jurisdictions to gather information needed for code updates.
- Collaborate with the internal team on processes to ensure information is being shared across all departments and all information is accurate and up to date.
- Interact with as well as develop and maintain relationships with Building Departments, Fire Departments and School Districts.
- Other Responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat to assist the construction manager, coordinating with architect and engineer, generating redline changes and addendums; keeping them organized and catalogued.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel for managing spreadsheets.
- Knowledge of AutoCad, Blue Beam and/or other architectural programs to assist construction is helpful.
- Salary range $26.00 hourly.
