Position Overview :
The Business Transient Sales Manager is responsible for managing and growing the transient business segment for the hotel. This includes identifying, prospecting, and cultivating relationships with corporate clients, business travelers, travel managers, and local companies. The role requires strong sales and negotiation skills, a deep understanding of the corporate travel market, and the ability to meet revenue goals by developing and executing strategies that align with the hotel’s sales objectives. The successful candidate will work closely with the sales team, revenue management, and operations to ensure optimal room occupancy and rate strategies for the transient segment.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES : ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Average Percent
40% Responsibly represent the hotel through conducting conferences, making proposals and other external sales presentations to prospective customers to solicit, explain, negotiate and close hotel sales. Utilize discretion and authority to negotiate contracts and commit company with customers and establish agreements with vendors.
25% Travel and engage in sales activities outside of the hotel to meet with and entertain customers and prospective customers, participate in trade shows and industry and community events to promote facilities , to make proposals, maintain contacts, and to close deals.
20% Write proposals and / or contracts to advise prospective clients for annual contracts with clients that require overnight accommodations for business needs.
5% Attend weekly sales departmental meetings and other scheduled meetings to support business operations, e.g., tentative review, business review, room night pick-up, etc.
5% Conduct site inspections and property tours with potential customers, visiting guest rooms, meeting space and banquet facilities, as well as other hotel facilities.
SPECFICIC REQUIREMENTS :
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by management based upon the particular requirements of the company.
Respond to sales inquiries from potential clients and customers seeking sleeping rooms
Complete RFPs for Corporations by working with the Revenue Director and Director of Sales & Marketing
Initiate new sales, prospects and qualifies leads and solicits potential clients
Host and entertain clients and maintain client accounts
Conduct property site visits and answer questions
Determine rates, prepare proposals, negotiate contracts, service accounts and analyze lost business for the hotel(s)
Develop sales plans and strategies to meet or exceed established revenue and room night goals
Review future booking levels to plan dates for promotions to increase occupancy rates
Interact with in house guests and solicit future business or generate leads
Knowledge of market trends, competition, and key customers of the hotel.
Partner with operations departments to ensure full participation in servicing accounts
Must have exceptional customer service skills
Ability to work well in a team environment
Must have a self-starting personality with an even disposition to effectively communicate with guests and staff.
Possess excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills. Computer literacy and financial management.
Willingness to travel to support sales efforts at Business travel conference and solicit travel agencies and call centers.
Attend professional organization events that support the business travel community (e.g. GBTA)
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Strong analytical skills, with experience in data-driven decision-making and KPI tracking.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in content creation and storytelling.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Leadership and team-building abilities
Return all phone calls on the same day and demonstrate timeliness in getting proposals to client.
Always maintain a professional image in appearance / attire and conduct when dealing with meeting planner and resort employees.
Basic mathematical skills to complete reports and working knowledge of financial statements and forecasting techniques.
Strong computer skills including Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods.
Interpersonal skills to provide overall guest satisfaction.
OTHER :
Due to the industry that we are in, a need will occur for each associate to provide “Lateral Service”. Our goal is to ensure that we are maximizing customer satisfaction and as a result there will be times when our associates in the Operations will call upon us for support in order to ensure customer satisfaction occurs. When we are fortunate enough for this to occur, each associate will positively respond unless there is a chance that an opportunity resulting in dissatisfying a guest could occur. If this is the case the leader is to be notified and the level of support that is being requested will be obtained.

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required.
EXPERIENCE
A minimum 3 years of previous experience in a hotel sales office, preferably in a 4-5 star hotel.
Must have a strong knowledge of digital marketing management
GROOMING
All associates must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available).
